The Role: Scrum Master

The Team: Our Technology Governance & Delivery Enablement team at S&P Dow Jones Indices is responsible for establishing effective portfolio planning and execution patterns in order to drive operational excellence and fostering a culture of collaboration through lean portfolio management and enabling agile ways of working. As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating our technology delivery leveraging agile and lean principles.

This person will play a pivotal role in guiding the teams to adopt Agile practices and methodologies starting with mindset shift to deliver prioritized business value. This person will be responsible to facilitate one to two Scrum teams with focus on team dynamics, continuous learning and agile maturity across teams and ART(s). This person will be responsible for removing any impediments to help the teams achieve their iteration/sprint goals and PI objectives. Will work closely with the Product Manager, Product Owner, Tech leads, UI/UX, security, QE leads and other team members to make sure the product/solution/platform development meets the business needs, aligns with product roadmap and prioritization.

• Build relationships and engage with stakeholders across the organization, managing stakeholder expectations to deliver the best solution Responsibilities:

• Coach teams on Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and built-in quality practices.

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and PI Planning; guide the team through draft planning, backlog readiness, blocker identification, dependency coordination, risk resolution, and team objective alignment to broader OKRs in partnership with other Scrum Masters and the RTE.

• Remove impediments, proactively identify risks, manage dependencies, and improve team flow using Agile metrics; take accountability for timely escalation and resolution of risks, blockers, and bottlenecks that impact iteration goals and PI objectives.

• Drive continuous improvement, self-organization, decision-making, and conflict resolution.

• Create a trusted and safe team environment where team members can openly share inputs, surface concerns, and collaborate constructively while supporting effective decision-making and conflict resolution.

• Represent the team in Scrum-of-Scrums, ART Syncs, Value Stream Syncs, and other cross-team forums; coordinate with Scrum teams, ARTs, RTEs, Product Owners, Product Managers, and technical leads to communicate dependencies, improve transparency, and ensure delivery alignment.

• Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, and Technical Leads to maintain a healthy backlog by ensuring MVPs, features, and user stories are clear, concise, prioritized, and aligned to business goals, product roadmap, and team readiness.

• Generate and maintain Agile dashboards and metrics that support data-driven decisions, transparency, predictability, and continuous improvement; promote adoption of AI/GenAI practices, including the effective balance of digital and human teams, use of AI agents in team ways of working, and application of GenAI across product and development lifecycles. What we are looking for:

• 12-15+ years of industry experience, including 5-6 years as a Scrum Master across product teams.

• Experience working in SAFe, value streams, and Agile Release Trains.

• Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement skills.

• Ability to understand domain-specific and technical discussions to facilitate Agile events, dependency conversations, risk reviews, and team decision-making in a meaningful way.

• Proven ability to improve Agile execution, delivery predictability, quality, and business value.

• Proven track record of enabling teams to deliver prioritized business value efficiently with a focus on accelerated delivery, enhanced quality, measurable outcomes, and maximum ROI.

• Expertise in Agile metrics, Kanban practices, lean portfolio management, and enterprise software delivery lifecycle.

• Hands-on experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, Confluence, Power BI, MS Teams, SharePoint, JIRA, or VersionOne.

• Excellent organizational, statistical, analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and oral presentation skills.

• Exposure to AI capabilities in Scrum and SAFe practices.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, business management, information technology, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications:

• Financial industry experience preferred.

• SAFe Scrum Master 6.0 certification required; SASM, PSM, CSM, APM, or CTC certifications are a plus.

• Prior Agile Coach experience and familiarity with BDD, ATDD, TDD, CI/CD, pair programming, automation, and Kaizen preferred. Overall Characteristics:

• Assertive, industry-aware, and confident in guiding teams on Agile/Scrum principles, SAFe 6.0, Scrum/Kanban with AI-enabled practices, and built-in quality; able to act as a voice of reason and authority, make tough calls, and ensure Agile principles are consistently applied.

• Self-starter who promotes strategic alignment and is methodical, detail-oriented, efficient, organized, and highly productive.

• Creates transparency by bringing the right level of disclosure to appropriate forums, stakeholders, and leadership to build trust and support timely decisions.

• Comfortable using AI to improve productivity, decision-making, and team/product outcomes.
