S&P Global is an American financial information company whose oldest predecessor was founded in 1860, and which took its present form through the 2022 merger with IHS Markit. Its most profitable business is the credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings, alongside market data and analytics through Market Intelligence, the index business behind the S&P 500, commodity price assessments through Platts, and Mobility, which owns the Carfax vehicle history service. Headquartered in New York and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it earns most of its revenue from subscriptions and recurring fees rather than transaction-linked ratings work.

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

Summary

Financial Risk Analytics provides products and solutions to financial institutions to measure and manage their market risk, counterparty credit risk, regulatory risk capital and derivative valuation adjustments. Using the latest analytics and technology such as a fully vectorized pricing library, Machine Learning, and a Big Data stack for scalability, our products and solutions are used by the largest tier-one banks to smaller niche firms. Our risk analytics solutions are available deployed, in the cloud, or can be run as a service so we free up internal resources to focus on business priorities.

Financial Risk Analytics is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to join the team in London, working on our evolving product suite across Buy and Sell Side risk. They will be designing for products used by the world’s largest banks and financial organisations to manage billions in risk exposure.

The role will involve data heavy end-to-end design, understanding client needs and business goals and translating into intuitive experiences, developing and maintaining design systems and building powerful prototypes to share with developers, stakeholders and prospects.

Responsibilities

The Senior UX/UI Designer will work with product, technology, support, professional services, and client-facing teams to gather and analyse requirements, translating complex problems into robust interfaces promoting user-centered design principles.

This hybrid UX/UI role will require expertise at all stages of the product lifecycle, from discovery and research through to delivery and iteration. Working with the Director of Design, the candidate will create high-quality UI designs that are clear, accessible, consistent and align to the S&P Global brand.

Close collaboration within the team will also be vital to their success, ensuring designs are feasible and effectively implemented, maximising output with the development resource available, and capable of presenting and communicating design rationale clearly to stakeholders and clients. They give and receive feedback well and stay curious.

The designer will be required to maintain and develop prototypes built with Figma to reflect our product roadmap, new features and concepts, and to support implementation and quality assurance, reviewing developed features to ensure they match the intended experience; attention to detail is critical to our success and an expectation our clients have of us and the products we deliver. They will have an interest in exploring the potential of AI-assisted design and development and be open to experimenting with Figma Make alongside Claude Code.

They will maintain and evolve our existing FRA design system to support new features and technologies, promoting accessibility by incorporating WCAG guidelines into designs and maintaining rigorous brand consistency.

They will work closely with developers to support implementation, exporting UI elements and documenting wireframes. They will also review and test new features before release, and perform usability testing to identify and troubleshoot UX problems and help refine requirements.

All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.

Required Experience

  • At least 5 years of UX/UI experience (7 years preferred)

  • Demonstrated experience designing complex data-dense enterprise or B2B products (Dashboards, analytics, workflows with heavy tabular/chart data)

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Experience conducting usability tests and heuristic studies

  • Portfolio demonstrating recent relevant work across end-to-end design lifecycle

  • Skilled using design tools such as Figma for both high fidelity designs and prototyping

  • Practical understanding of web technologies and what’s feasible from a development perspective (CSS, HTML5, Typescript, React)

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in HCI, Design or a related field

  • Experience in the financial industry, ideally with Risk Analytics, Buy Side Risk, Traded Market Risk, XVA, CCR, FRTB, portfolio risk, fixed income analytics, securitised products, liquidity risk, or managed risk-as-a-service solutions.
