In a world where many companies are focused on incrementally improving the status quo, we are focused on creating something entirely different - an architecture underpinned by new first principles to meet the opportunities and challenges of the third space age head-on. Our goal is to move away from one-to-one space architectures - where each satellite in a constellation has one (or a small # of) primary payloads attached to the bus -- and unlock a ‘one-to-many’ system, where each satellite has a large number of payloads which can be deployed from their host spacecraft at high velocities without firing a thruster.\nThis is not a role for someone looking for a traditional 40-hour work week. Space Kinetic is building ambitious, first-of-its-kind technology, and that requires urgency, ownership, and a high level of commitment to changing the foundational assumptions for everything we do in space.\nWhat You’ll Do: \nWe are seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer with 5+ years of experience to perform structural analysis across spacecraft, payload, and deployment-system hardware. \nJob Responsibilities: \nConduct and document static, thermo-mechanical, dynamic, vibration, buckling, fatigue, and fracture analyses using finite element analysis and first-principles methods\nDevelop structural models to predict stress, deformation, dynamic response, failure modes, and margins of safety\nDefine load cases and operating environments for spacecraft and flight hardware\nPerform hand calculations and analytical modeling to validate results and guide design decisions\nCollaborate with design, manufacturing, systems, and test engineers to develop lightweight, reliable, and manufacturable hardware\nSupport structural test planning, instrumentation, execution, data processing, and correlation of models to test results\nLead structural design trades, mass optimization, and resolution of hardware issues throughout development\nDocument and present analysis findings during internal, customer, and program design reviews \nWhat It Takes: \nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied physics, or a related technical discipline\n5+ of experience in structural analysis, stress analysis, structural dynamics, loads development, or a related field\nStrong foundation in statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and material behavior\nProficiency with finite element analysis tools such as FEMAP/NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent tools\nExperience performing static, modal, buckling, vibration, or nonlinear structural analyses\nAbility to use hand calculations and first-principles methods to validate computational models\nExperience supporting structural testing and correlating analytical predictions with test data \nWhat We’dLove: \nMaster’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, or a related field\nExperience analyzing spacecraft, payloads, deployment systems, mechanisms, or other flight hardware\nProficiency with FEMAP/NASTRAN, Siemens NX, MATLAB, or Python\nExperience with metallic, composite, bonded, welded, machined, or additively manufactured structures\nExperience supporting static, vibration, shock, fatigue, qualification, or acceptance testing\nFamiliarity with aerospace structural-analysis standards and qualification methodologies \nWhere You’ll Be: \nThe position is onsite at our headquarters in El Segundo CA . Domestic travel may be required (up to ~20% of the year). \nWhat We Offer: \nEquity-Based Compensation\n401(k) retirement plan with a 3.5% company match\nHighly Competitive PTO\nPaid company holidays + winter break \nComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage\nUnique Performance-Based Bonus Structure\nITAR Requirements: \nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education/experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity. \nPay Range\n$135,000—$175,000 USD","description_format":"text","description_chars":5235,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Retirement plans"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Civil & Structural Engineering","Space & Aerospace","Missiles","Space Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-11T14:41:29Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":60,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.838,"p_room":0.72,"age_days":67,"expected_fill_days":145,"reasons":["conf:2","win:mid","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-24T06:02:35Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":175000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/spacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/spacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-25T04:41:37Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":6222,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-26T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":685289},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=685289"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fspacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fspacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fspacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/spacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fspacekinetic-structural-analysis-engineer"}]}
