You will contribute to board-level hardware development across mixed-signal, power, timing, and control electronics, supporting designs from initial requirements through prototype bring-up, validation, and production.\nThis is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working in the laboratory, and collaborating with experienced engineers to build reliable hardware that moves quickly from development into the field.\nThis position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and is full-time onsite at our Menlo Park Facility. You will work closely with LeoLabs' RF, mechanical, embedded software, manufacturing, and systems engineers to develop and integrate advanced radar hardware.\nYou will be responsible for:\nDesign and develop PCBAs and electrical subsystems for next-generation radar hardware\nTranslate defined system and subsystem requirements into schematics and board-level designs\nSupport PCB layout and perform design checks under the guidance of senior engineers\nContribute to designs of mixed-signal, power, timing, and control electronics for demanding operating environments\nPerform hardware bring-up, laboratory testing, debugging, and electrical validation\nAnalyze test results and assist with identifying and resolving hardware design issues\nWork closely with RF, mechanical, embedded software, manufacturing, and systems engineers to integrate complete hardware systems\nParticipate in design reviews and incorporate technical feedback into assigned designs\nSupport design reviews, prototype builds, manufacturing transition, and deployment activities\nDevelop engineering tools, test software, and laboratory automation using Python where appropriate\nCreate and maintain design documentation, test procedures, and test reports\nContribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design and laboratory practices\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline\n3+ years relevant experience designing or testing board-level electronics\nExperience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer or equivalent software\nExperience participating in hardware development from design through prototype bring-up and validation\nWorking knowledge of mixed-signal design fundamentals, including power integrity, signal integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC-aware layout\nHands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, and electrical validation\nExperience using circuit-simulation tools such as LTspice\nExperience developing engineering tools or test automation using Python\nStrong technical communication and documentation skills\nAbility to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams\nPreferred Qualifications\nEligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance\nExperience designing electronics for radar, aerospace, defense, communications, or other mission-critical applications\nFamiliarity with FPGAs, embedded processors, or high-speed digital hardware\nFamiliarity with product lifecycle management systems such as Arena.\nExperience working in a multidisciplinary hardware-development environment\nFamiliarity with RF hardware or RF system integration\nWithin 1 month, you’ll:\nComplete onboarding and become familiar with LeoLabs' radar hardware, development process, and active programs\nBuild an understanding of current electrical designs, development tools, and laboratory workflows\nBegin supporting ongoing hardware development and integration activities\nWithin 3 months, you’ll:\nContribute independently to a defined board-level design, test effort, or electrical subsystem\nSupport prototype bring-up, validation, debugging, and design iteration\nEstablish effective working relationships with cross-functional engineering teams\nWithin 6 months, you’ll:\nTake ownership of defined portions of a board or electrical subsystem with guidance from senior engineers\nExecute assigned design, analysis, and validation activities with increasing independence\nSupport hardware integration, manufacturing, and deployment activities\nBecome a reliable technical contributor within the Hardware Engineering organization\nWithin 12 months, you’ll:\nDeliver a board-level design or substantial design contribution through prototype validation or production release\nIndependently execute well-defined electrical engineering tasks and appropriately escalate complex technical decisions\nContribute lessons learned, documentation, and technical improvements to future radar hardware development\nCompensation\nSalary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location.
