Based in Luxembourg, we are designing the next generation of lunar rovers and building a team of bold thinkers ready to make history. If you're passionate about innovation and want your work to have real impact, we want to hear from you.\nTITLE: Electronics Engineer\nLOCATION: Luxembourg\nAs an Electronics Engineer at ispace Europe, you will take technical ownership of the design, development and validation of electronic hardware for our lunar rover systems.\nYou will work across the complete electronics development lifecycle, from defining electronic architectures and selecting components, through schematic design and PCB development, to hardware bring up, debugging, integration and verification.\nThis is a strongly hands-on electronics design role. We are looking for an engineer who can make sound architecture and circuit-level design decisions and then go into the laboratory to build, modify, measure and troubleshoot the resulting hardware\nKEY RESPONSABILITIES\nElectronic Design & Architecture\nTake end-to-end technical ownership of electronic hardware developments, from requirements definition and architecture through detailed design, manufacturing, verification and qualification.\nLead and document electronics architecture trade-offs, design analyses and key technical decisions, balancing performance, reliability, cost, schedule and space-environment constraints.\nDesign, simulate and review complex digital, mixed-signal and power electronics, including high-speed interfaces and associated signal and power integrity considerations.\nPerform and document EEE component selection and derating, considering electrical performance, reliability, radiation environment, availability, obsolescence and applicable project requirements.\nOwn schematic design and PCB development activities, including component selection, stack-up definition, grounding, impedance control, EMC/EMI considerations and design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test.\nApply robust engineering practices to ensure designs meet allocated requirements and applicable reliability, quality and environmental constraints.\nCollaborate closely with Systems, Mechanical, Thermal, Software/Firmware and other engineering disciplines to ensure robust system-level integration.\nHardware Integration, Testing & Debugging\nProvide technical oversight of PCB fabrication and assembly, working closely with manufacturers and suppliers and resolving technical issues throughout production.\nLead hardware bring-up, debugging and functional verification using appropriate laboratory instrumentation and test equipment.\nPerform board-level debugging and rework when required, maintaining a strong hands-on approach throughout hardware development and integration.\nDefine verification approaches and develop test procedures, ensuring objective evidence and traceability against allocated requirements.\nPlan, support and follow up environmental test campaigns, including preparation, execution, anomaly investigation and closure of resulting actions.\nSupport hardware/software and system-level integration activities, troubleshooting complex issues across subsystem boundaries.\nDevelop scripts, test tools and automation where appropriate to improve hardware characterization, debugging, verification and test efficiency.\nDocument test configurations, results, anomalies and conclusions to ensure technical traceability and support design qualification.\nTechnical Ownership & Leadership\nAct as technical owner for assigned work packages and represent and defend the design during internal and external technical reviews.\nIndependently plan and execute complex technical work, coordinating dependencies and driving activities to completion.\nProactively identify technical risks, issues and dependencies; define mitigation plans and drive them to closure.\nReview designs, analyses and technical documentation produced by other engineers, providing constructive technical challenge and ensuring appropriate engineering rigor.\nProvide technical guidance and mentor less-experienced engineers, supporting knowledge transfer and development of engineering capabilities within the team.\nContribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, design methodologies, tools, standards and lessons learned within the Electronics team.\nProduce and maintain high-quality engineering documentation, including specifications, design descriptions, analyses, technical justifications, test procedures and test reports.\nKEY REQUIREMENTS\nMasters or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n+7 Years significant professional experience in electronic hardware design and development, with demonstrated ownership of complex hardware developments across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle.\nStrong experience in digital, mixed-signal and/or power electronics design, including schematic capture, circuit analysis and simulation.\nStrong experience in multi-layer PCB design, including high-speed design, controlled impedance, grounding, stack-up definition, length matching and EMC/EMI design practices.\nSolid understanding of signal integrity and power integrity principles and their practical application to electronic hardware design.\nStrong understanding of EEE component selection and electrical derating, including consideration of reliability, availability and obsolescence.\nProven hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, rework and functional testing using standard electronics laboratory equipment.\nExperience defining and executing hardware verification activities, including test procedures, requirements traceability and technical documentation.\nAbility to independently lead complex technical work, perform engineering trade-offs, identify technical risks and drive issues to resolution.\nExperience presenting and defending hardware designs during technical reviews and working effectively across Systems, Mechanical, Thermal, Software/Firmware and other engineering disciplines.\nGood scripting and programming skills for engineering, test and automation purposes; Python and C/C++ are preferred.\nStrong technical communication and documentation skills, combined with demonstrated initiative, technical leadership and the ability to mentor less-experienced engineers.\nNICE TO HAVE\nDirect experience designing electronics for planetary rovers or lunar surface systems.\nExperience designing electronics for space or other harsh environments.\nKnowledge of radiation effects and mitigation techniques for electronic hardware.\nKnowledge of EMI/EMC, signal integrity, grounding and shielding.\nExperience with EEE component selection, derating and qualification.\nFamiliarity with ECSS and/or IPC standards applicable to electronic hardware.\nExperience supporting environmental testing, including thermal-vacuum and vibration.\nExperience with OrCAD or equivalent schematic/PCB design tools.\nExperience with FPGA-based hardware and Xilinx devices.\nExperience with automated hardware characterization and testing using Python.\nWhy Join ispace EUROPE?\nAt ispace EU, we’re not just building lunar rovers - we’re shaping the future of space exploration from our base in Luxembourg.
