Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nCORROSION CONTROL TECHNICIAN \nAs a corrosion control technician for ground support equipment fabrication, you will apply and maintain coating systems that protect critical hardware and infrastructure. You will identify, remove, and treat corrosion, prepare surfaces, and apply coatings to meet strict quality standards while keeping pace with a demanding production schedule. \nRESPONSIBILITIES: \nSandblast to acceptable industry standards \nOperate spray coating equipment to industrial and commercial standards \nOperate air tools, pressure feed tanks, and airless pumps \nQuality brush and roll industrial and commercial coatings \nCorrosion control on carbon steel/stainless steel using pneumatic air tools, needle guns, and scalers \nSafe operation of aerial platforms, forklifts, and heavy equipment \nIdentify hazards in production and take action to reduce risk before work begins\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: \nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate \n2+ years of corrosion control, painting, or sand blasting experience in an industrial environment \nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: \n5+ years of industrial painting experience \nFamiliarity with the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), material safety data sheet (MSDS), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation codes or industry standards \nUnderstanding of heavy equipment safety standards \nAbility to follow detailed instructions \nExperience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns \nSelf-motivated individual able to work independently or in a team environment and willing to learn \nAbility to assume responsibility, work with little or no supervision, be flexible, perform duties, and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful conditions \nStrong attention to detail, documentation, and quality control\nCoating types, application methods, dry film thickness measurement, holiday detection, and adhesion testing \nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: \nTypical hours for this position, excluding overtime, are Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM \nMust be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required \nValid driver’s license \nMust be able to work outdoors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in a safe manner. Work in extreme temperatures due to weather conditions and operating equipment \nMust be able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise \nStand: Up to 6 hours per day \nSit: Up to 6 hours per day \nPush/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) 15 minutes or less per day \nOverhead reach: Up to 6 hours per day \nWalk: Up to 6 hours per day \nLift/Carry: Up to ≤ 50 lbs. (unassisted) 15 minutes or less per day \nClimb (ladder/stairs): Up to 6 hours per day \nKneel/Crouch: Up to 3 hours per day \nUpper body twist: Up to 3 hours per day \nAbility to work in temperatures over 80 degrees 6 hours or greater per day \nCandidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, operating heavy equipment and machinery, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description.
