Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nDATA CENTER TECHNICIAN\nJoin SpaceX’s IT Infrastructure team as a Data Center Technician, where you’ll play a critical role in building and maintaining multiple data centers. As a key member of our team, you’ll deploy and maintain the infrastructure that powers our mission critical systems, including servers, networks, HVAC and power systems. The ideal candidate has experience working with various types of hardware architecture and understands the strength of each.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nMonitor and resolve networking, compute and rack power distribution infrastructure incidents in multiple data centers\nManage complete lifecycle for data center hardware including selection, deployment, operation, maintenance and decommission\nPhysically rack and cable data center equipment\nTrack and logically organize the physical storage of incoming data center equipment\nPerform quality assurance testing and resolve recurring issues\nEstablish, schedule and track preventative maintenance procedures\nUpdate documentation, including interconnect drawings, rack layouts and operation procedures\nMonitor the environmental conditions and power/cooling systems of a data center to ensure they are optimized for servers, switches, storage arrays, and other devices\nMaintain in depth quantitative performance and utilization data for detailed reporting and analytics to drive continuous improvement opportunities\nWork with the supply chain team and vendors to evaluate, procure and manage inventory of data center equipment\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\nProfessional experience working in a data center environment or with enterprise grade IT hardware\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nCertifications related to IT infrastructure such as CompTIA Servier+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, and CDCMP\nExperience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) including tools to monitor, measure, manage, and/or control data center utilization\nIn-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment\nExtensive experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment\nStrong Linux skills including:\nNavigating the system’s directories and filing system\nManipulating files in the Linux shell\nUser permission configuration\nPackage installation and software management\nAbility to identify and apply different filesystem types\nUsing Linux commands for process management\nBasic troubleshooting and debugging\nBash or other scripting\n\nPower and data center cooling capacity planning experience\nExceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills\nExperience working with multiple vendor hardware architectures\nExperience working with server management tools such as HPE iLO, Cisco CIMC and Dell iDRAC\nWillingness and ability to respond to incidents after hours\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nWillingness to work overtime hours and weekends as needed\nWilling to participate in after-hours on-call rotation\nWilling to travel to other sites for surge support and systems familiarization\nAbility to lift up to 50lbs\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
