Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN \nEnvironmental Technicians will be responsible for regulatory requirements relating to OSHA, TCEQ, RCRA, EPA, and DOT requirements. Works with engineers and technicians daily to ensure our manufacturing facility can support manufacturing goals while meeting all environmental objectives. \nRESPONSIBILITIES: \nPerform tasks related to resource conservation and recovery act (RCRA) regulatory hazardous waste handling, storage and disposal requirements \nMonitor and manage levels of hazardous waste at each department’s satellite accumulation area\nEnsure all waste is properly labeled\nEnsure all waste is properly stored, according to its classification\nAccurately record and maintain 90-day hazardous waste drum logs, hazardous waste sign in sheets, VOC solvent usage logs\nAccurately perform all required hazardous waste and hazardous material storage area inspections\nAssist in waste shipments with the waste disposal contractor\nPerform weekly storm water inspections per the SWPPP\nPerform tasks related to spill response/prevention\nImplement the spill prevention countermeasures and control plan (SPCC) throughout the facility\nPerform environmental compliance and due diligence audits \nPerform basic multimedia sampling (water, soil, air) in support of environmental engineers\nConduct visual inspections of emission sources and associated control equipment (paint/coating booths, filters, combustion equipment, tanks)\nGather air-related operational data (operating hours, material usage, throughput) and identify emissions, odors, or control-equipment issues; use air-quality tools such as gas meters when required\nAssist environmental engineers with stormwater data gathering, field walk-downs, and other minor but key stormwater tasks\nInput and maintain records in SafetyNets (or equivalent internal environmental tracking system)\nSafely move industrial waste from satellite accumulation areas (SAAs) to the central accumulation area (CAA), applying basic DOT requirements during container movement and placement for shipments\nPerform both minor and major spill response and cleanup in accordance with the SPCC\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: \nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\n2+ years of experience implementing and overseeing aspects related to an environmental, health and safety program \nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: \nExperience in managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas\nExperience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil and water\nDemonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuits\nAbility to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision\nPrevious experience in a construction/industrial environment\nStrong organizational and communication skills are essential\nAbility to work in high-volume, fast paced environment \nExperience performing multimedia sampling and using air-quality monitoring tools (e.g., gas meters)\nWorking knowledge of stormwater permit requirements and ability to support permit-related field activities\nFamiliarity with internal environmental reporting systems\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: \nThis is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Bastrop, TX area\nPosition requires the ability to work overtime and weekends when needed\nAbility to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted \nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
