Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nFIRE SAFETY & EMERGENCY RESPONSE TECHNICIAN\nThe Fire Safety and Emergency Response Technician is a hands-on field role with two co-equal core duties: inspection, testing, maintenance, and commissioning support of fire and life-safety systems, and fire, hazardous-materials, and process-emergency response. This technician keeps fire protection systems in service and provides initial and offensive response capability for manufacturing hazards including pyrophoric gas fires (silane), toxic gas leaks (PH3, AsH3), acid spills, wet-bench fires, and cleanroom/tool incidents. The role works directly with facilities, contractors, operations, and the authority having jurisdiction to protect people and processes in a high-hazard manufacturing environment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nServe as a dedicated technician with dual core responsibilities: (1) inspection, testing, maintenance, and commissioning support of fire and life-safety systems, and (2) fire, hazardous-materials, and process-emergency response for manufacturing hazards including pyrophoric gas fires (silane), toxic gas leaks (PH3, AsH3), acid spills, wet-bench fires, and cleanroom/tool incidents\nPerform and manage ITM for fire and life safety systems (sprinklers, suppression, alarms, detection, extinguishers, gas detection, SCBA, and related equipment); complete scheduled testing and maintenance with little or no guidance, close out deficiencies, and support regulatory or insurance inspections\nSupport installation, upgrades, and commissioning of fire protection systems: walkdowns, device checkout, punch lists, functional tests, and turnover\nVerify that installed systems stay in working order and that impairments are logged, mitigated, and restored\nWork with facilities teams, fire contractors, and the authority having jurisdiction (fire marshal) on inspections, permits, impairments, and certifications\nRead drawings, submittals, and test reports well enough to follow a job in the field and flag what does not match\nKeep inspection, test, and corrective-action records so audits and AHJ visits have a clean paper trail\nRespond to impairments, leaks, trouble signals, and after-hours issues as the site requires\nFill key operational roles during incidents (including HAZMAT technician-level support and technical rescue); perform size-up, specialized gas monitoring, scene control, isolation support, defensive and offensive tactics, foam/dry-chemical application, spill containment, decontamination, and two-in/two-out operations\nOperate in full structural firefighting PPE + SCBA and Level A/B hazmat suits; maintain accountability, communications, and incident documentation; participate effectively in ICS structure\nCreate and review basic pre-incident plans and JHAs (including HAZMAT scenarios); support emergency action plans, drills, and mutual-aid interface\nDeliver training to production, operations, and maintenance personnel and participate in live-fire, gas-release, and joint exercises; train new technicians on basic ITM and response tasks as experience grows\nPerform hot-work watches, confined-space standby, permit support, and other EHS readiness tasks; manage assigned apparatus, equipment, HAZMAT resources, and consumable inventory\nCollaborate with engineering, operations, facilities, and EHS leadership to proactively ensure fire safety and emergency-response requirements are met and built into company processes\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh-school diploma or equivalent\n2+ years installing, inspecting, testing, and/or servicing fire protection systems (sprinkler, fire alarm, and/or special suppression) or equivalent industrial emergency-response experience\nAbility to obtain ICS 100/200/300 within 90 days of hire\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nExperience in semiconductor, solar-cell, or high-hazard process manufacturing emergency response\nWorking knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 25, 72) and basic building/fire code requirements\nFirefighter I/II certification (IFSAC, ProBoard, or equivalent)\nHazardous Materials Technician certification (NFPA 472/1072 or OSHA 1910.120 equivalent)\nNICET certification in Inspection and Testing, Water-Based Systems, Fire Alarm, or Special Hazards\nHands-on time with industrial suppression systems (preaction, clean agent, foam, dry chemical)\nConfined-space rescue training\nKnowledge of pyrophoric gas fire tactics, toxic-gas response, and cleanroom operations\nIntermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)\nAdditional certifications such as confined-space rescue, EMT, OSHA 10/30, or equivalent preferred\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) plus on-call and extended hours as needed\nMust be able to work in industrial/manufacturing environments, wear required personal protective equipment (including SCBA and fully encapsulating suits), and pass medical and physical-ability evaluations\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
