Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nINSTRUMENT FITTER (STARSHIP)\nThe Instrumentation Fitter is responsible for building, installing, and troubleshooting fluid systems in support of the Starship production facility. Instrument Fitters play a key role in the design process by providing feedback to engineers on how the resources will be operated and maintained.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nFabricate and install fluid system components from a schematic or engineering drawing, including but not limited to:\nStainless steel/aluminum piping\nBall/check valves\nPressure regulators\nSensors/gauges\nRead and interpret planning documents, schematics, data sheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches\nAdjust, repair or replace faulty components of ground hardware, test, and integration equipment\nConnect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors\nComplete necessary wiring of the electrical ground support equipment for ground systems\nPerform high pressure liquid and pneumatic testing\nTroubleshoot and repair high-urgency operational issues found during activation or production usage of fluid systems\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\n3+ years of experience using mechanical and/or electronics hand tools\n3+ years of experience with pipe fitting and fabrication\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nStrong understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)\nExperience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns\nExperience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems\nExperience maintaining a propulsion test stand in the aerospace industry\nExperience with orbital or structural welding\nExperience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication\nProfessional experience with calibrated measuring instruments\nExperience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts and manlifts\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be able to lift at least 25 lbs (unassisted)\nMust be willing to travel up to 25%. Position is based in Brownsville, TX, however work at other SpaceX facilities for extended periods for similar work may be required\nMust be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces\nMust be available to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
