Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nIT STORAGE ENGINEER\nSpaceX is seeking an experienced storage engineer with deep expertise in enterprise storage platforms. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in performance-critical settings and is eager to build storage infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads like simulation, telemetry, and test data processing.\nThe ideal candidate will possess knowledge of both Pure and NetApp storage systems running iSCSI with hands-on keyboard as well as on hardware in an on-premises environment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign, implement, and maintain storage infrastructure across multiple tiers: high-performance, capacity, archive, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.\nArchitect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage and support exabyte scale file systems (e.g., VAST,) for simulation, telemetry, and high-concurrency workloads.\nAdminister storage systems including NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, Vast, and HPE Alletra.\nMonitor and troubleshoot storage performance across the full stack: hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers.\nTroubleshoot complex issues that require an understanding of the interaction of various protocols and operating systems.\nManage storage access, data permissions, and access controls across different protocols and operating systems.\nDevelop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity utilization and planning, configuration management, and alerting.\nDefine and enforce standards for storage deployment, performance tuning, and operational management.\nCollaborate with compute, networking, and application teams to align storage strategies with system architecture and workload requirements.\nParticipate in scheduled maintenance, on-call rotation, and occasional physical installation of hardware.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline and 3+ years of professional IT storage engineering experience; OR 5+ years of IT storage engineering experience in lieu of a degree.\nExperience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra.\nStrong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe over TCP.\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nExperience with client and server hardware/software, monitoring tools, enterprise networking, and virtualization.\nMid-level experience with DFS administration.\nHigh level of network knowledge.\nExperience automating infrastructure with Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex designs in clear terms.\nExperience collaborating with virtualization teams as an infrastructure engineer.\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:\nPay Range:\nLevel 3: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00\nYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.\nBase salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
