SOUS CHEF - TEMPORARY \nSpaceX is looking for passionate, experienced individuals to join our culinary team! The Jr. Sous Chef plays an important supporting role in the culinary department by assisting with kitchen inventory, food preparation, and setup. This position helps fuel the workforce while contributing to higher-end food experiences for the company’s employees and guests. It requires a versatile set of restaurant industry skills, an imagination without bounds, and a lot of “can-do” attitude.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nAssist with cost controls and help monitor expenditures\nSupport the creation of pricing schedules for meals\nHelp source high-quality ingredients with a focus on local, sustainable, and organic items\nAssist in planning and executing menus with an emphasis on seasonal items and creative menu choices\nSupport purchasing and inventory management\nEnforce food quality standards\nParticipate in staff meetings focused on food safety, quality, and new ideas\nEnsure the safety of the physical kitchen and café space\nCreate a pleasant and fun environment for SpaceX employees to meet and share a meal\nSupport the delivery of in-house catering and assist with company and special events\nPOSITION DETAILS:\nThis is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.\nLENGTH OF POSITION: 3 months (permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need)\nLOCATION: Bastrop, TX\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\n2 years of culinary leadership experience\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nDegree or certificate in culinary arts\nHigh-volume production or catering experience\nAbility to assist in creating innovative menus\nStrong ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills\nCreative mindset with a desire to contribute to the culinary experience and culture at SpaceX\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be willing to travel to various SpaceX locations for mission critical projects\nValid state issued driver's license\nMust be able to work all shifts and available for overtime, weekends and holiday(s) as needed\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
