Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nSPACEPORT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST\nThe role of a Spaceport Operations Specialist is to provide leadership for housing accommodations, hotel operations, transportation, site amenities, and customer service. You will help develop and implement effective customer service strategies and training programs. Duties include coordinating service operations, monitoring and motivating staff, ensuring excellent customer service, engaging with guests and residents, hiring and developing talent, ensuring the team is current with all mandatory company trainings, scheduling and payroll, interviewing, hiring and onboarding of new staff, and setting and upholding customer service principles. The Spaceport Operations Specialist will support the mission by providing a foundation of excellent customer service and quality living and visiting accommodations that boost morale and productivity within SpaceX.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nOversee Spaceport Village operations, including leasing/rental housing and hotel operations, transportation, amenities, and events\nMonitor quality and consistency of Spaceport operations by setting and enforcing standards while inspecting and routinely walking areas of responsibility\nTrain staff on customer service, anticipating guest needs, and problem resolution\nEnforce proper safety practices with staff and leads\nCoordinate and enhance time management for the team\nMonitor financial activities for Spaceport Operations, strategically driving revenue and improving operating costs\nCreate and maintain in-person and online training materials\nOversee performance management for Spaceport Operations staff\nAssist in all aspects of project implementation to build out Starbase Village as needed, including aesthetic industrial design improvements\nProvide campus-wide reporting on departmental spend, ticketing, and other metrics as requested\nObtain multiple bids from competing contractors by creating scopes of work\nPerform job walk-downs with vendors, engineers, supervisors, and managers\nCreate RFPOs and assist buyers with vendor selection\nEnsure purchase orders are accurate with no cost overruns\nWork closely with Spaceport Development, Facilities, Culinary, and Hospitality teams\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\n2+ years of experience within the hospitality or operations industry\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nExperience opening new operations and/or creating operational procedures from the ground up\nExperience leading a team within the hospitality or operations industry\nAdvanced knowledge of customer service and problem resolution\nExperience with Microsoft Office and Outlook\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal\nStrong knowledge of room inventory, housekeeping processes, guest service, and transportation operations\nExperience in a corporate environment\nProficient knowledge of human resources management\nAbility to organize work for large groups in various service formats\nStrong time management skills\nExperience with high-volume, complex multidisciplinary operations\nExperience leading groups of 10 or more staff members\nEye for aesthetic industrial design\nExperience with facilities within an aerospace industry\nFamiliar with space planning procedures and operations\nAbility to create and update RFPOs and facilities work orders in an ERP software\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment\nAbility to make independent judgments with limited information\nCommunication skills for relaying data (verbally and in writing) between employees, vendors, and customers\nLogical and strategic approach to solving problems\nAbility to read and understand basic floor plans\nComfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, with flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be willing to travel to other SpaceX locations for significant/extended periods of time as needed (up to 85% of the time)\nWillingness to relocate to Starbase, Texas with potential for shift work in a remote location\nAbility to provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies and critical operations\nValid state issued driver's license\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
