CIVIL ENGINEER, LAND DEVELOPMENT\nAs a Civil Engineer on the construction projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at our College Station facility. This is a hands-on role responsible for the planning and execution of new facility construction and renovation projects with emphasis on heavy civil and utility components. You will work with construction project managers, facility engineers, designers, vendors, and internal partners/customers to support these goals. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change and own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nDevelop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for industrial, manufacturing, and commercial-type land development projects\nPerform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities\nDrive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects\nManage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field: including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-discipline contractor team\nInteract with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimates prior to project implementation\nResolve design and construction conflicts in real-time\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline\n5+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and drafting\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\n4+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and drafting\nEIT or Professional Engineering (PE) license\nPrevious experience with civil design software packages like StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, WaterCAD, PCSWMM\nExperience with AutoCAD Civil3D (grading to create a Civil 3D surface file, earthwork volume takeoffs, plan and profile creation, base model setup among other items)\nKnowledge of processes of governing permitting and/or environmental agencies\nUnderstanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying\nExperience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management\nExperience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nAbility to work at elevated heights, in indoor and outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain, snow)\nPhysical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted)\nAbility to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise\nMust be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs\nAbility to provide on-call support in emergencies\nOccasional travel may be required based on specific project tasks\nAbility to work onsite at our College Station, TX facility (Remote work not considered)\nValid driver’s license\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
