IT NETWORK AUTOMATION ENGINEER\nSpaceX is looking for an experienced Network Automation Engineer to build the tools that support a large and growing network infrastructure, including live data center build environments. This employee will be a member of the IT Network Engineering team, which is responsible for maintaining a stable, reliable, and diverse network. This network supports the design, manufacturing, and launching of rockets, spacecraft, satellites, and human spaceflight. The ideal candidate will be a great communicator, able to document their work, excel at multi-tasking, and enjoy a fast-paced high-tech environment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nBuild network automation tools to support switch configurations, config backups, software updates, logging, monitoring, and alerting.\nCreate Python scripts to automate manual network processes.\nMeasure, maintain, and improve the uptime and performance of the network.\nAct as technical product owner for infrastructure tools and software used by the network engineering team.\nScale networks with automation and operational improvements.\nCollaborate with network engineers to create operable and maintainable infrastructure.\nProvide mentorship to junior engineers.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline and 5+ years of professional network automation, network engineering, or site reliability engineering experience; OR 8+ years of network automation experience and high school diploma or equivalency certificate in lieu of a degree. \nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nNetworking protocols and traffic types: TCP, IPv4/IPv6, voice, video, broadcast, and streaming.\nLinux operating systems.\nAutomation in Python, Go, shell, bash, and/or other languages.\nSource control tools such as Git or Subversion.\nManaging hundreds to thousands of network assets in an automated environment.\nPuppet, Ansible, or other automation frameworks.\nAbility to run projects independently.\nUnderstanding of fundamental networking.\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nThis role requires you to be onsite. Hybrid or remote work will not be considered.\nMust be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.\nMust have a valid driver's license.\nAbility to lift heavy objects up to 35 lbs. unassisted.\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
