Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\nSENIOR PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEER\nThe SpaceX Bastrop Environmental Health & Safety team is seeking a highly driven engineer to establish process safety parameters across a variety of cutting-edge technologies and manufacturing processes. A successful engineer in this role will thrive in a high-paced collaborative environment, establishing themselves as a process safety SME with key stakeholders.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nConduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) of advanced chemical systems and recommend controls to manage risks as low as reasonably practicable\nEvaluate equipment overpressure/overtemperature scenarios and reaction hazards\nPerform/oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), as well as risk assessments and hazard analyses on complex process equipment\nImplement and field validate safety critical instruments and interlocks during Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs)\nImplement a Process Safety Management (PSM) program and ensure compliance with all pillars of PSM\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s degree in process safety or chemical engineering\n5+ years’ experience with design and commissioning chemical systems\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nMaster’s degree in chemical engineering\nAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, instrumentation diagrams, etc.\nExperience with reviewing safety control circuits and calculating safety performance levels\nExperience with design and commissioning of process systems for hydrofluoric acid, strong acids and bases, pyrophoric and flammable gases\nAdvanced understanding of industry codes, standards, and practices such as ASME, NFPA, ANSI, IBC/IFC, RAGAGEP, etc.\nKnowledge of quality tools such as lean manufacturing principles, statistical process control, root cause analysis and corrective action, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem-solving approaches\nStrong interpersonal and collaborative skills\nEnthusiasm for the missions of enabling global internet connectivity and multi-planetary life\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nThis is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Bastrop, TX area\nPosition occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed\nITAR REQUIREMENTS:\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
