SECURITY ENGINEER (INFRASTRUCTURE)\nSpaceX is looking for a Sr. Security Engineer (Infrastructure) to join Information Security to help protect and drive the SpaceX mission. Information drives our business. We must protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and processes across the enterprise, and defend against loss of control or confidence in our systems. \nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign on-premises Kubernetes platforms that security services run on, and the compute, storage, and networking they depend on.\nLead cluster lifecycle work, including upgrades, capacity, failure domains, and safe change.\nBuild the automation other engineers use to provision, configure, and operate the platform.\nSet standards for how security services are deployed, hardened, and run on Kubernetes.\nHarden clusters and workloads, including RBAC, policy, secrets, and secure configuration.\nRespond to the hardest production incidents and drive them to a durable fix.\nDefine the signals, alerts, and operational practices that keep the platform supportable.\nDocument what you run, keep it working, and advise other teams on it.\nFind systemic gaps with security and IT, then ship platform and deployment changes that reduce risk.\nDeliver solutions that are scalable, repeatable, maintainable, and secure.\nCoordinate with information security, IT, software, and other partners.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience operating production infrastructure and high school diploma or equivalency certificate in lieu of a degree.\n5+ years of experience operating on-premises Kubernetes in a production environment.\n5+ years of experience with Linux system administration and with Python, Go, or another language used to automate infrastructure.\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nProduction Kubernetes at scale, including control plane, networking, storage, RBAC, and upgrades.\nDesigning on-premises compute, storage, and network architectures for container platforms.\nCluster and node hardening, admission control, and secure workload configuration.\nInfrastructure as code and configuration management.\nPython or Go for platform tooling and automation.\nLinux internals and troubleshooting.\nObservability, alerting, and operational readiness for production platforms.\nCI/CD or GitOps-style delivery onto Kubernetes.\nCapacity planning, failure domains, and recovery for on-premises platforms.\nTCP/IP at the level needed to build and debug cluster networking.\nRoot-cause debugging under time pressure.\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.\nThis role requires you to be onsite.
