This role requires deep expertise in power/energy systems testing, HIL/HITL architecture, CI/CD integration, and cross-functional collaboration across India and US teams. The hire will directly raise release confidence, reduce field defects, and scale SPAN's global quality infrastructure.\nStep 1. Job Description\nAs a Test Architect at SPAN, you will define and drive the end-to-end test strategy and architecture for SPAN's intelligent energy systems - including SPAN Panels, SPAN Drive, battery integrations, EV charging, and grid interactions. You will ensure system reliability, safety, and scalability across hardware, firmware, cloud, and mobile applications.\nKey Responsibilities\nDefine end-to-end validation strategy across SPAN Panel (Gen2/Gen3), SPAN Drive, battery systems (e.g., Powerwall, Franklin), and grid/load interactions.\n\nBuild system-level test architecture covering App ↔ Cloud ↔ Hardware ↔ Grid; mix manual, automation, HIL/SIL.\n\nApply risk-based testing for safety-critical power systems; ensure coverage for corner cases and failure modes.\n\nLead validation of energy flows, outages, failover, backup scenarios, interoperability with inverters, batteries, and EVSEs.\n\nPartner closely with teams on third-party integrations to validate end-to-end behaviours.\n\nArchitect scalable HIL/HIL environments with simulators and emulators.\n\nStandardize lab procedures and fixtures; ensure India and US labs are aligned and interchangeable.\n\nIntegrate suites into CI/CD (Buildkite, Jenkins, GitHub Actions); enforce quality gates and build health signals.\n\nDefine and track coverage (feature/system/integration), defect leakage/escape rate, pass rate, MTTR, and MTTD.\n\nStandardize dashboards in JIRA, TestRail; ensure traceability requirements → test cases → defects.\n\nCollaborate with Product, Firmware, Software, and DevOps to align on release risk and validation scope.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\nCore Expertise\nTest Architecture for system-level products across hardware, firmware, and cloud/mobile.\n\nAutomation frameworks (Python, JS, Robot/System frameworks), design patterns, reliability engineering mindset.\n\nCI/CD and release pipelines; artifact versioning; environment orchestration; test data management.\n\nDomain Knowledge (Critical for SPAN)\nPower/energy systems, EV, renewables; grid behavior (voltage, frequency, phase, outages).\n\nBattery systems, inverters, EVSE; protocols CAN, Modbus, MQTT, REST APIs.\n\nHands-on with oscilloscope, power analyzers, grid simulators, and electrical safety practices.\n\nTools & Technologies\nCI/CD: Buildkite, Jenkins, GitHub Actions; OTA: Mender; Test tools: TestRail, JIRA, Jama; Embedded/Linux (Yocto).\n\nNice to Have\nUL/IEC compliance exposure; grid codes and safety standards; multi-region power systems experience.\n\nKey Traits & Impact\nAnalytical, system-level thinking; superb debugging; clear communication and stakeholder management.\n\nOwnership and bias for action; collaborative across US and India teams.\n\nImpact: higher release confidence, scalable global testing, fewer field defects, faster time-to-market.\n\nLife at SPAN\nOur Bengaluru team plays a pivotal role in SPAN’s continued growth and expansion.
