You will turn emerging ideas in LLMs, coding agents and developer tooling into working prototypes, evaluate new architectures, and help shape future product direction.\n\nWhat you'll do\n\nBuild working prototypes and technical demos for AI-native IDE and developer-tooling capabilities.\n\nExplore how modern coding agents handle context, tool use, planning, orchestration and verification.\n\nDesign and prototype AI-assisted and agentic developer workflows that improve developer productivity and experience.\n\nEvaluate emerging IDE, LLM and agent architectures hands-on and translate findings into practical technical recommendations.\n\nExperiment with new approaches to context engineering, agent orchestration and coding-agent evaluation.\n\nCollaborate with universities, open-source communities, researchers and industry partners.\n\nWork closely with international R&D teams to influence technical direction and future product capabilities.\n\nWhat we're looking for\n\nStrong hands-on experience building IDE, developer-tooling or engineering-productivity features.\n\nGood understanding of IDE technologies such as IntelliJ Platform, PSI, Lsp, or similar architectures.\n\nPractical experience with LLMs, coding agents, context engineering, agent orchestration, or evaluation.\n\nStrong software engineering skills and the ability to independently turn an early-stage idea into a working prototype.\n\nStrong engineering judgment and ability to evaluate emerging technologies beyond the proof-of-concept stage.\n\nStrong English communication skills and confidence working with international technical teams.\n\nBased in Amsterdam or willing to relocate.\n\nNice to have:\n\nExperience with compiler toolchains, build systems, runtimes, debugging, or developer test infrastructure.\n\nContributions to developer tools, AI coding tools, research projects, or open-source communities.\n\nExperience building developer tooling for ecosystems with limited documentation, tooling, or training data.\n\nExperience with code intelligence, code completion, static analysis, refactoring, or program analysis.\n\nStrong technical communication skills and the ability to clearly explain and advocate for new technical ideas.\n\nWhy join?\n\nYou'll work at the intersection of AI, IDEs and software engineering, exploring how the next generation of developers will build software with intelligent agents.\n\nRather than simply integrating existing AI APIs, you'll have the opportunity to experiment, prototype and influence how AI-native development environments are designed from the ground up.\n\nThe position is based in Amsterdam and offers a competitive compensation package within an international R&D environment.\n\n Company description\n Sparagus is a young and dynamic company specialized in IT Recruitment and based in Brussels.
