Solar Site Surveyor
Full-Time | Field-Based
About This Role
SpartanX is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Solar Site Surveyor to support residential solar projects across our active markets.
The Site Surveyor is responsible for collecting the accurate field information our Design, Engineering, Permitting, and Operations teams need to move a project forward. You'll visit customer homes, document roof and structural conditions, collect electrical information, take required measurements and photographs, and identify site conditions that could affect system design or installation.
This is an independent field role for someone who is comfortable on roofs and in attics, communicates professionally with homeowners, and understands that the quality of everything downstream starts with an accurate survey.
What You’ll Do
Site Surveys & Field Documentation
- Perform residential solar site surveys according to SpartanX standards
- Collect accurate roof, structural, electrical, attic, and property information
- Document main service panels, subpanels, meters, breakers, and existing electrical equipment
- Take complete photographs, measurements, and detailed field notes
- Document roof dimensions, pitch, material, condition, and potential installation obstacles
- Evaluate attic access and document applicable structural conditions
- Identify shading, access limitations, electrical concerns, or other conditions that could affect system design or installation
- Verify all required information has been collected before leaving the property
- Submit complete and accurate survey information through company systems within required timelines
Project & Operations Support
- Provide Design and Engineering with reliable field information needed to develop accurate system plans
- Communicate unusual site conditions or potential project concerns to the appropriate teams
- Coordinate with Design, Engineering, Permitting, Installation, and Operations when additional information is required
- Respond promptly to requests for clarification or additional documentation
- Help reduce redesigns, return visits, and installation delays through accurate initial surveys
- Maintain accurate project documentation and survey records
Homeowner & Field Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with homeowners during scheduled appointments
- Arrive prepared and on time for assigned surveys
- Treat customer homes and property with care and respect
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent SpartanX appropriately in the field
- Follow company safety procedures while working on roofs, ladders, in attics, and around electrical equipment
- Manage assigned appointments and daily routes efficiently
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in solar, construction, roofing, electrical, site surveying, or field operations preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily field schedule
- Professional homeowner communication and customer-service skills
- Comfortable safely accessing rooftops, ladders, and attics
- Basic understanding of residential construction
- Basic understanding of residential electrical systems preferred
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, mobile applications, and web-based systems
- Ability to take accurate measurements and follow detailed documentation requirements
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel between scheduled appointments
- Ability to lift and safely carry equipment required to perform site surveys
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous residential solar site survey experience
- Residential solar installation or operations experience
- Roofing or construction experience
- Electrical experience or knowledge
- Familiarity with solar design or site survey software
- OSHA 10 or other relevant safety training
Schedule
Primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday availability required.
Pay & Vehicle Compensation
- $13.75/hour + $55 per completed site survey
- Vehicle Compensation - Choose One:
- $400 monthly vehicle allowance + $0.22 per mile, or
- Use your own vehicle + $0.72 per mile
