The Production Lead Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating extruder and/or pelletizing machinery to manufacture plastic sheet or pellets and performing quality testing. Ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost and meets customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Spartech policies and procedures. In addition, the Production Lead Operator is responsible for housekeeping and 5S performance in the area.\nEssential Job Duties :\nAccomplish the duties of the job utilizing safe work habits and maintaining a safe workplace\nRequired to direct and assist co-workers in work functions\nRequired to direct and assist during change over’s\nRequired to inspect finished rolls, vacuum if dust is visible and inspect each roll for non-conforming characteristics [i.e., angel hair, loose rolls, roll weave or bad cuts]\nMust be able to read and understand shop orders\nCommunicate effectively with shift lead and associated personnel in all phases of the operation and processes, both written and oral\nPerform cleaning task of equipment and plant\nRecord daily total down time with reason codes\nPerform SQC and quality testing\nOperate forklifts as required (Change gas cylinders and/or do general maintenance as required)\nOperate Hoist and pallet jack when needed\nMust be able to work a full schedule workweek and fulfill overtime requirements as needed\nPerform any additional direction/duties from shift lead\nCompetency in plant operator positions.\nDirect and coach individuals as part of the Production Lead Operator duties\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nWill be required to train other employees\nActive participant in Kaizen and lean events\nMay be required to perform duties not specifically listed above, the listed duties are subject to be changed at any time, as deemed necessary to support the business.\nKey Metrics:\nAssist shift lead in any needed task\nAccurate paperwork\nCompletion of duties in a timely and organized manner\nMaintain clean lines in the manufacturing area\nBe a certified forklift driver\nMaintain a safe work environment\nDirect and coach individuals as Production Lead Operator duties\nRequirements\nEducation:\n High school diploma or equivalent preferred\n Must possess above average math and reading skills\n Requires the ability to complete paperwork accurately and timely\n Mental Demands:\n Requires good hand/eye coordination and good vision\n Must be a self-starter and team oriented\n Must be conscious of all safety aspects affecting the manufacturing operations\n Benefits\nWe offer competitive salary, incentive, and benefit programs. - Most Benefits Start Day ONE!\nBenefits include:\n Medical, Dental, & Vision.\n Company paid life and long-term and short-term disability programs. \n Flexible spending accounts.\n 401(k) with a strong matching program.\n 120 hours Paid Time Off (pro-rated based on hire date).\n 11 paid holidays. \n Spartech LLC, headquartered in Maryland Heights, Missouri is a leading manufacturing organization in the Custom Sheet & Roll Stock and Packaging industries with over a dozen locations throughout the United States.
