This\nrole owns that platform: its architecture, its security and compliance posture, the Oracle Cloud Services\nrelationship, and the platform work underpinning the migration to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.\nThe position combines hands-on engineering with platform ownership. The Principal Engineerremains\ntechnically engaged with Oracle 19c and EBS R12.x while setting OCI architecture standards, owning the SOX\ncontrol environment, directing the Oracle Cloud Services team as a delivery program, and owning the platform\nwork beneath the EBS-to-Fusion migration.\nResponsibilities\nOracle Database and EBS Engineering\nThe Principal Engineer provides technical leadership for Oracle 19c and EBS R12.x across Production, Test,\nDevelopment, andDisaster Recovery. The work spanshighly availablearchitecture built on RAC, Data Guard,\nRMAN, and ASM; backup, recovery, and business continuity strategy; and the planning and execution of\npatching, upgrades, cloning, refreshes, and performance tuning. The roleestablishesthe runbooks and\noperational standards supporting 24x7 availability andleadsroot cause analysis to reduce recurring incidents.\nWhile not performing testing directly, the Principal Engineer is accountable for test coverage and execution\nahead of patching and platform changes, and for communicating maintenance windows, change timing, and\nexpected impact across the technology organization.\nOCI Architecture, Security, and Compliance\nThis role owns OCI architecture to Oracle Well-Architected and landing-zone standards, including\ncompartment design, tenancy and IAM governance, network design, and infrastructure-as-code with\nTerraform. It also owns Oracle SOX IT General Controls: access reviews, segregation of duties, change\nmanagement,and audit evidence for the annual internal audit review. Encryption and key management, data\nmasking, vulnerability management, and cloud cost governance fall within the same scope.\nThe Oracle CSS Partnership\nOracle Cloud Services is managed here as a delivery program rather than a support queue. ThePrincipal\nEngineer sets priorities, plans capacity, tracks milestones, and holds CSS accountable for SLAs, availability, and\nincident resolution. The role owns the statement of work and change requests, contributes to contract renewal\ndiscussions, and stewardsSpecialized'sOracle licensing posture.\nThe Fusion Migration\nThe migration from OCI-hosted EBS to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications is a multi-year program owned by the\nGlobal Enterprise Applications leader. While GEA owns the applications migrating, this role owns the systems\nand platform beneath them: target platform architecture, environment strategy, data migration, and\ncoexistence between EBS and Fusion during the transition. The Principal Engineer partners with GEA and\nSBC Internal UseOnlySBCInternal Use Only\napplication leads to plan andexecuteeach phase, and is accountable for the platform being ready, secure, and\nperformingwhen it is.\nCross-Functional Partnership\nThis role works closely with the Global Enterprise Applications (GEA) team, partnering on demand intake,\nticket triage, and execution for Oracle work, and coordinating on releases, environment availability, and\napplication changes that cross the infrastructure and applications boundary. The Principal Engineer also\nparticipates in the Global Tech Prioritization process, providing technical assessment, effort estimation, and\narchitectural input on proposed initiatives, and translating approved priorities into delivery plans for the\nOracle platform. Regular collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain, Security, and Infrastructure teams rounds\nout the role's cross-functional scope.\nThought Leadership and Technology Innovation\nThe Principal Engineer defines andmaintainsthe long-term architecture roadmap forSpecialized'sOracle\nlandscape, evaluates emerging capabilities including AI and advanced automation within Fusion, and brings\nforward proposals ahead of operational demand. The role serves as a technical advisor to Technology\nleadership andmentorsengineers across the organization.\nRequired Qualifications\n10+ years of Oracle Database Administration supporting mission-critical enterprise applications,\nincluding 8+ years of hands-on EBS R12.x administration.\nDeep Oracle 19cexpertiseacross RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, and performance tuning, with hands-\non Oracle Cloud Infrastructure experience.\nStrong Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platform administration experience, including VCN design, network\nsegmentation, IAM governance, compartment strategy, console administration, and cloud security controls.\nStrong Linux fundamentals on Oracle Linux or RHEL: shell scripting, SSH andsudoadministration, OS\nperformance tuning, and security hardening.\nDemonstratedprogram leadership, including planning, dependency tracking, and stakeholder\nreporting, and experience directing a managed-services vendor in a 24x7 production environment.\nWorking knowledge of SOX ITGC and audit controls, identity and access management, and cloud\nsecuritypractice.\nProven ability to communicate maintenance windows, change timing, and platform impact clearly across the\ntechnology organizationand tobusiness stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, particularly an EBS-to-Fusion migration, is the strongest\ndifferentiator for this role. Experience designing secure OCI landing zones and enterprise-scale cloud\ngovernance modelsishighly valued, as is a disciplined approach to patch testing and regression validation\nahead of production application. Terraform and infrastructure-as-code, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and\nExadata orExaCSare also valued. WebLogic and SOA Suite are being retired from the environment; experience\ndecommissioning them is more relevant than experienceoperatingthem.\nSBC Internal UseOnlySBCInternal Use Only\nRelevant certifications include OCI Architect Professional, Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified\nProfessional, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud Specialist, and Oracle Cloud Applications implementation\ncredentials. PMP, ITIL 4, or CISSP are also applicable. Certifications are weighed alongside demonstrated\nresults, not in place of them.\nSuccess Measures\nPerformance is measured on Oracle uptime, availability, and SLA compliance; CSS program delivery against\ncommitted dates and budget; SOX and ITGC audit results; execution of low-risk upgrades, patching, and\nmigrations; reduction in recurring incidents; and platform readiness against Fusion migration milestones.\nRole Details\nLocationMorgan Hill, CA Onsite4 days\nOn-CallParticipates in the 24x7 on-call rotation\nPAY\nBelow is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in the following locations:\nCalifornia Base Pay Range: (137,000 198,000 )\nBENEFITS\nAs a full-time, regular teammate, you are eligible for the following benefits, beginning the first of the month following your start date.\nBenefits include:\nCompetitive pay with annual performance-based reviews for continued growth and recognition \nComprehensive healthcare plan options, including PPO, EPO, HDHP, and HMO (acupuncture and physical therapy included) \nHealth Savings Account (HSA) with employer HSA contributions when enrolled in the High-Deductible Healthcare Plan (HDHP) \nDental and Vision plans \n401(k) Company Matching up to $5,000 annually with immediate 100% vesting and administrative fees paid for by the company \nCompany-paid Life, AD&D, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability Insurance \nEmployee Assistance Program that provides access to individualized mental well-being care \nGenerous Vacation, Sick, Paid Holidays, and Volunteer Time Off \n14 weeks of 100% paid leave for birthing parents and 8 weeks of 100% paid leave for non-birthing parents, plus a Specialized bike for your new baby \nUp to $9,000 annually in Career Development & Degree Assistance \nUp to $250 annually in Fitness & Wellness Reimbursement \nIndustry Pro-Deal Discounts and Perks \nFor additional information on benefits and perks, please visit: https://benefits.specialized.com.\nWe want to increase representation of all races, genders, and body types in the cycling industry and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce where all people thrive.
