With offices in Boston and Peabody, MA, Specter leverages its advanced propulsion technologies, manufacturing, and testing capabilities to rapidly develop supersonic and hypersonic systems. Our Aerospace Engineer III/IV will be based in our Boston (Seaport) office. Funded by a mix of government R&D organizations and private funding, Specter is expanding its team in preparation for flight testing and full-scale production.\nRole & Responsibilities\nLead the development and execution of numerical analysesof high-speed flight systems\nProvide guidance and feedback to junior engineers\nCommunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders\nDevelop aerodynamic models of high-speed airbreathing vehicles using multi-fidelity data\nLeadwind tunnel test preparation and execution\nCoordinate with design team to provide feedback on system design\nSupporttrajectory optimization and analysis efforts (3DOF/6DOF)\nOther duties as assigned by the company\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline\n3+ years of relevant full-time experience\nExperience conducting high-speed numerical simulations of aerospace vehicles\nExperience using any of the following CFD tools: Fun3D, US3D, Cart3D, CFD++, OVERFLOW, Vulcan\nExperience using grid preparation software (Pointwise, GridPro)\nExperience using scripting languages (Python, BASH, MATLAB) to aid in analysis\nExperience conducting wind tunnel tests at academic, government, and private wind tunnels\nExperience with low fidelity methods for aerodynamic estimation\nAbility to obtain a DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline\n7+ years of relevant full-time experience\nExpert in computational analyses for high-speed airbreathing systems\nExperience in finite-rate reacting flow simulations for combustion studies\nExperience with automatic grid generation
