With offices in Boston and Peabody, MA, Specter leverages its advanced propulsion technologies, manufacturing, and testing capabilities to rapidly develop supersonic and hypersonic systems. Our Mechanical Technician will be based in our Peabody office. Funded by a mix of government R&D organizations and private funding, Specter is expanding its team in preparation for flight testing and full-scale production.\nRole & Responsibilities\nAssemble mechanical, electromechanical, and aerospace hardware from engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions\nSupport prototype development, vehicle integration, and test operations\nPerform precision fitting, drilling, tapping, machining, and fabrication of components and assemblies\nAssist with environmental, structural, propulsion, and system-level testing activities\nTroubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions with engineering teams\nMaintain assembly documentation, build records, and test reports\nOperate shop equipment and tools safely while maintaining a clean and organized workspace\nSupport inventory management, material handling, and hardware tracking\nContribute to process improvements that increase quality, reliability, and production efficiency\nRequired Qualifications\nHands-on experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or related fields\n2+ years of experience assembling or maintaining mechanicalor fluidsystems.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical schematics, and assembly documentation\nBasic machining, welding, or fabrication experience\nProficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measurement equipment, and shop machinery\nExperience with mechanical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and work in manufacturing and test environments\nStrong communication and teamwork skills\nAvailable for up to 10% travel for test activities\nAbility to obtain a DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in aerospace, aviation, defense, automotive, robotics, or high-performance manufacturing environments\nExperience in creating fluid assemblies from Plumbing and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and engineer work instructions\nFamiliarity with GD&T, torque specifications, and mechanical
