At Spectra Logic, you'll work alongside a team of highly skilled engineers developing the next generation of enterprise data storage solutions that protect some of the world's most valuable information for decades.\nWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who thrives on solving complex systems-level problems, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to influence the architecture and direction of products that integrate robotics, embedded systems, and enterprise storage technologies.\nWhat You'll Do\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key technical leadership role in designing, developing, and delivering software that powers our enterprise robotic storage systems.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain high-performance production software using modern C++.\nArchitect and implement complex software for robotics, storage systems, and hardware control.\nDesign scalable, maintainable, and testable software using modern object-oriented design principles and design patterns.\nDevelop software for Linux-based enterprise storage platforms.\nDrive technical direction and influence architectural decisions across multiple products.\nMentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching.\nCollaborate closely with Product Management, Firmware, Hardware Engineering, Test Engineering, and Customer Support throughout the development lifecycle.\nContinuously improve software quality through automated testing, code reviews, refactoring, and engineering best practices.\nLead root cause analysis of complex customer issues and drive permanent corrective actions.\nChampion software quality, maintainability, and performance across the engineering organization.\nEvaluate and introduce new technologies, tools, and engineering practices that improve product quality and development efficiency.\nWhat You Bring\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n7+ years of professional software development experience.\n5+ years of modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20) development experience.\nStrong understanding of:\nObject-oriented design\nMemory management\nRAII\nSmart pointers\nMultithreading and concurrency\nSTL\nException safety\nExperience developing software on Linux platforms.\nStrong debugging and problem-solving skills.\nExperience designing large-scale, maintainable software architectures.\nExperience leading technical projects from design through production.\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\nAbility to mentor engineers and influence technical direction across teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience developing software for robotics or hardware control systems.\nExperience with enterprise storage systems, SAN, NAS, or tape technologies.\nExperience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP and REST APIs.\nExperience with Boost or other modern C++ libraries.\nExperience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.\nExperience working in Agile development environments.\nCandidates must reside within commuting distance of our Boulder, CO office.
