Come join a workforce where we put you first!\nJOB SUMMARY: The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies that support Spectrum Control’s operational, financial, and customer objectives across multiple manufacturing locations. This hands-on, people manager will lead and develop a team of three commodity professionals while remaining actively involved in major supplier negotiations, contracting, cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supplier performance management.\nWorking closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management, the Commodity Manager will build a reliable and competitive supply base for highly engineered products serving the aerospace, defense, and other high-reliability markets. The role requires strong commercial judgment, technical sourcing experience, and the ability to balance strategic initiatives with immediate business and production needs.\nCompensation Range: The expected compensation range for this position is $130,000 - 160,000.00 annually.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nCommodity Strategy:\nSpend Analytics\nDevelop commodity strategy framework, supplier strategies.\nImplement major commodity strategies aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and manufacturing needs.\nManage supplier relationships and performance, improve lead time, mitigate supplier/supply risk.\nIdentify and execute cost-reduction, productivity, value-engineering, and working-capital improvement opportunities.\nIdentify opportunities for supplier base optimization.\nPeople Management and Development:\nLead, coach, and develop a team of commodity professionals, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.\nEstablish and monitor key performance indicators for cost savings, lead time reduction, risk mitigation.\nJointed ownership with Material Management team for purchase-price variance, delivery, lead time, and risk reduction.\nMaintain hands-on involvements:\nSRM.\nCritical supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, cost analysis, and resolution of critical supply issues.\nPartner with Engineering and Operations to support supplier transitions and make-versus-buy decisions.\nContinuous Improvement:\nCollaborate across Spectrum Control locations to standardize commodity practices, leverage enterprise-wide spend, and improve supply-chain performance.\nAutomation and AI- actively seek opportunities to introduce new tools and automation.\nEstablish and implement KPIs, best practice commodity framework and processes.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nMust have direct experience managing commodities including electromechanical or machining. 7+ years of progressive experience including 2+ years of direct people management experience. \nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification is preferred. \nExperience sourcing technical components, materials, or manufacturing services within aerospace, defense, electronics, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.\nStrong background in supplier negotiations, contract development, cost analysis, commodity strategy, and supplier performance management.\nAbility to understand technical requirements, drawings, specifications, bills of material, cost drivers, and manufacturing processes.\nProven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Program Management.\nStrong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage strategic priorities while responding effectively to urgent production and supplier-related challenges.\nProficiency with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office applications, and data-analysis or business-intelligence tools.\nExperience developing commodity functional KPIs and key processes. \nAbility and willingness to travel approximately 30%.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nThis position will be based at Spectrum Control’s facility in Marlborough, MA.\nThe role operates in a professional office environment with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor and at supplier facilities.\nThe role requires frequent collaboration across multiple locations and functions.\nEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities\nThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
