This role is pivotal in leading the design, development, and delivery of high-reliability electronic systems for aerospace and aviation applications. You will combine strong technical expertise in electronics with leadership responsibility, guiding a team of RF and electronic engineers while ensuring robust, innovative, and manufacturable solutions are delivered across the full product lifecycle\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design and development of electronic hardware systems, including digital, analogue, and mixed-signal circuits.\nDefine system and hardware architectures in line with aviation standards e.g. DO-254.\nOversee the full hardware development lifecycle, including requirements capture, design, verification, validation, and certification support.\nEnsure designs meet requirements for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and environmental compliance.\nLead the engineering team across projects, supporting formal design reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR, TRR).\nLead engineering project delivery, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and schedule adherence.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, mechanical, manufacturing and quality engineering.\nSupport new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.\nLead and line-manage a team of engineers and technicians, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.\nContribute to bids and proposals, including technical solutions, cost estimation, and risk analysis.\nEngage with customers and external partners to understand requirements and maintain strong technical relationships.\nDrive continuous improvement in design methodologies, engineering processes, tools, and practices.\nQualifications & Experience\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.\nStrong experience in electronic hardware design (analogue, digital, or mixed-signal).\nProven experience delivering engineering projects in aerospace, aviation, defence, or other safety-critical industries.\nFamiliarity with aerospace industry regulations and standards, including but not limited to AS9100, ISO 9001, FAR Part regulations, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754, ARP4761, ISO 10007, EIA 649 and others is highly desirable\nExperience in safety-critical or regulated industries (e.g. automotive, rail, energy, medical, or defence) and associated industry regulations and standards with the ability to translate knowledge and interpret and apply to aerospace frameworks, for example, DO-178C, DO-254\nExperience managing or leading engineering projects and/or technical teams.\nFamiliarity with product development lifecycles and gated review processes.\nExperience working with regulated quality systems (e.g. AS9100, ISO9001).\nThe following experience is desirable:\nExperience in RF and microwave engineering, including circuit design, simulation, and system integration\nExperience delivering RF engineering projects within aerospace, defence, or similar high-reliability industries.\nHands-on experience with RF simulation tools and laboratory test equipment (e.g. VNAs, spectrum analysers).\nSkills & Competencies\nTechnical\nElectronic system and hardware design\nDigital and analogue circuit design\nRequirements management and traceability\nVerification, validation, and test strategies\nDesign for manufacturability and reliability\nProject & Delivery\nEngineering project planning and execution\nRisk and issue management\nResource and stakeholder management\nCost and schedule control\nStrategic\nAbility to align engineering solutions with customer and business objectives\nManaging technical risk across programmes\nSupporting long-term product and technology roadmaps\nInterpersonal\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills\nEffective cross-functional collaboration\nAbility to influence customers, partners, and internal teams\nLeadership\nTeam leadership, coaching, and development\nOwnership of technical and project delivery\nDriving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement\nOther Requirements\nMust be eligible for security clearance.\nWhat We Can Offer You\nFlexible working practices -
