- supporting engineers with complex design challenges, overseeing QA/QC and helping establish consistent standards across transportation projects.The RoleYou’ll be responsible for:Acting as a senior technical resource for engineers and design techniciansMentoring and developing junior and mid-level engineering staffProviding hands-on guidance with complex transportation design challengesLeading QA/QC reviews of plans, specifications, calculations, reports and construction documentsReviewing roadway, stormwater, drainage and grading designsTroubleshooting technical issues and helping remove project delivery bottlenecksWorking closely with Project Managers to ensure technical work meets scope, schedule and budget requirementsHelping establish and maintain engineering design standards and best practicesEncouraging knowledge-sharing and technical development across the Chicago engineering teamWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois, or ability to obtain through reciprocity10+ years of transportation engineering experienceStrong technical experience with roadway/highway designExperience with stormwater, drainage and gradingStrong background reviewing engineering deliverables and leading QA/QCExperience mentoring engineers and design techniciansAbility to troubleshoot complex engineering and design issuesExperience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer highly desirableAutoCAD Civil 3D experience beneficialThe Ideal BackgroundThis position could suit someone currently working as a:Senior Transportation EngineerSenior Roadway EngineerTransportation Design ManagerRoadway Design ManagerPrincipal Transportation EngineerEngineering ManagerTechnical ManagerSenior Project EngineerYou don’t necessarily need to already hold an Engineering Manager title.
