Primary depth should be in PostgreSQL, with strong working knowledge of Oracle. This role covers performance, availability, backup and recovery, and architecture decisions for production financial systems.\n\nKey Responsibilities : \n\nAdministration & Performance : \n\n- Own PostgreSQL (primary) and Oracle (RAC/ODA) production environments : capacity planning, patching, upgrades.\n\n- Perform deep query and index tuning.\n\n- Design partitioning strategies for high-volume tables, accounting for platform differences.\n\nBackup, Recovery & DR : \n\n- Own backup and recovery using open-source Postgres tools (pgBackRest, Barman, or WAL-G).\n\n- Design and test DR/HA setups (Patroni, Data Guard).\n\n- Own RPO/RTO targets and failover runbooks.\n\nCDC & Migration : \n\n- Configure and troubleshoot CDC pipelines (Debezium, Striim, or GoldenGate).\n\n- Apply working knowledge of Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration : schema conversion, query rewrites, cutover planning.\n\nAutomation & CI/CD : \n\n- Automate routine operations using Python, Shell, or Ansible.\n\n- Build and maintain database CI/CD : version-controlled schema changes and automated migration pipelines (Liquibase or Flyway).\n\nMonitoring : \n\n- Build and maintain monitoring and observability (pgBadger, OEM, Prometheus/Grafana).\n\n- Tune alerting thresholds to catch problems early.\n\nSecurity : \n\n- Implement encryption at rest and in transit, access control, and auditing across both platforms.\n\nArchitecture & Mentorship : \n\n- Own architecture decisions independently.\n\n- Mentor junior DBAs.\n\n- Communicate risks and trade-offs clearly to leadership and other teams.\n\nProduction Support : \n\n- Join the on-call rotation for off-hours critical incidents.\n\nRequired Skills : \n\n- 7 -
