Our products benefit our fellow engineers while unlocking considerable potential in support of wider company initiatives and customer projects.\nWhat You’ll Work On:\n\nYou’ll collaborate with a highly skilled, multidisciplinary engineering organization to: \nDesign and maintain advanced testing frameworks-supporting both virtual and bare-metal hardware environments-for internal teams and external customers. \nBuild and enhance an automated software update pipeline for satellites in orbit. \nIdentify and eliminate friction points in the satellite software development lifecycle with smart, user-friendly tools and workflows. \nArchitect and implement the next-generation satellite software framework to support highly resilient and high-performance space systems. \nWhy This Role Is Exciting:\n\nBroad Impact: Your work will support dozens of developers across Spire, directly improving satellite software quality and delivery speed. \nTechnical Breadth and Depth: From embedded systems to GitOps pipelines, you’ll be exposed to a wide technical spectrum.\nTeam Autonomy: You’ll be part of a small, self-directed team with the resources and support of a 150+ person engineering organization. \nCulture of Automation: We embrace CI/CD, extensive test coverage, and a GitOps-based delivery model, freeing you to focus on solving meaningful problems.\nWhat We’re Looking For :\n\nExperience and interest in building infrastructure or tools that support developer productivity. \nStrong coding skills and familiarity with testing and observation strategies. \nPassion for automation, reliability, scalability, and elegant tooling. \nComfort navigating complex systems, quickly learning and navigating new arenas of code, and collaborating across functions (e.g., software researchers, embedded developers, satellite operators). \nWillingness to provide emergency operational support, fix bugs and maintain existing code.\nDesired Skills/Experience:\n\n4+ years of working experience in software engineering \nComputer science degree or equivalent work experience; experience in the full lifecycle of a software.\nSoftware programming experience and proficiency in at least one of: Rust, Python\nProficiency in Linux/Unix, Git, Docker and Shell Scripting \nFamiliarity with PaaS, IaC, Cloud and CI tools. Examples include AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Github Actions, PostgreSQL, Hashicorp Vault, Grafana, Databricks. \nSpire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three business days per week in the office.\nAccess to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be requiredfor this role.
