The ideal candidate is highly reliable, demonstrates ethical and safe work practices, has a high level of discretion and is passionate about loss prevention initiatives. The successful candidate must also be available to travel locally and work flexible hours to accommodate hours of operation for stores.\nResponsibilities\nResponsible for conducting all investigations within an assigned district\nPrevents inventory loss through communication and participation with all store staff members in programs aimed at theft awareness and prevention measures\nAudits store security procedures such as cycle counts, reporting etc.\nDetects and processes individuals engaged in-store theft and fraudulent activities including completing investigation and related reports with police agencies and the criminal justice system\nConducts initial investigation of internal matters (ex. cash over/short reports, etc.)\nResponds to all emergency situations\nProvides direction in merchandise protection standards and conducts awareness training\nKey contact for their group of stores for camera system installs and maintenance\nWorks directly with armoured car service on troubleshooting and evaluation of store needs\nWorks directly with alarm companies on setup and ongoing maintenance issues\nInterviews suspects and witnesses and prepares in-depth reports on all investigations\nTestifies in a variety of hearings and court actions\nOther related tasks as required\nQualifications\nDiploma or Certificate in Security/Police Studies or related field (preferred, not required)\nValid Alberta Security License required (before start date)\nPost-secondary education or equivalent (preferred, not required)\nProServe Certification\nValid First Aid and CPR certification is preferred\nPressure Points Control Tactics (PPCT) will be considered an asset\nKnowledge of WHIMIS is preferred\nKnowledge of surveillance and apprehension techniques\nInterview and interrogation training will be considered an asset\nMinimum, 2 - 5 years’ loss prevention experience\nMinimum, 2 - 5 years’ management experience\nPrevious retail experience will be considered an asset\nOther Skills and Capabilities\nUnquestionable ethics and integrity with an ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality\nPositive and professional approach with willingness to learn and be challenged\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment as well as independently\nExhibit strong leadership skills with the ability to make appropriate decisions in stressful situations\nAbility to demonstrate situational awareness and safe work practices\nExcellent active listening, communication (written and verbal) and dispute resolution skills\nDemonstrate initiative and ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and efficiency\nHighly organized with the ability to direct and prioritize tasks as appropriate\nProven ability to maintain workload and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nStrong problem identification and problem resolution skills\nAbility to be flexible, in keeping with the needs of our evolving company\nMust be willing and able to work irregular hours, including weekends and occasional overnights to support the retail stores\nProficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, Project and Outlook\nExcellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication\nMust pass a Criminal Record Check\nValid driver’s license and reliable transportation\nWhat Makes SNDL a Great Place to Grow:\nCompetitive compensation including performance-based bonuses and annual salary reviews.\nComprehensive health and dental benefits, including a Healthcare Spending Account.\nThree weeks of paid vacation with annual rollover.\nFlexible, hybrid work arrangements to support work-life balance.\nRecognition and rewards programs that celebrate individual and team achievements.\nEmployee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) with mental health, financial, and family support.\nEmployee perks and discounts program, offering savings across fitness, wellness, lifestyle, retail, and everyday services\nWe are grateful for the interest in this role from all candidates, however, we will be contacting only those that are selected for next steps in the hiring process.\nOur Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion\nSNDL is an equal opportunity employer.
