Based in Edmonton or remote, this role works collaboratively with the Health and Safety team, corporate leaders, retail management, and frontline staff to promote effective health and safety practices throughout the organization.\nThe successful candidate will handle a variety of health and safety and administrative functions, including claims and file management, maintaining training materials and forms, and managing the shared H&S inbox.\nCritical skills for this position include a high level of professional discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality, strong attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent organizational and time management skills. The ideal candidate will work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate adaptability and a positive, proactive attitude to support evolving business needs.\nResponsibilities\nLegislative Compliance & Governance\nMaintain current knowledge of federal and provincial OHS acts, regulations, and codes across all operating regions.\nEnsure company policies and procedures align with legislative and industry standards.\nIncident Investigation & Claims Management\nInvestigate retail accidents, near-misses, and injuries to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.\nManage Worker Compensation (WCB) claims from inception through completion, acting as the liaison between the injured worker, management, and the WCB case worker.\nSupport and coordinate return-to-work programs in collaboration with management and impacted employees.\nAssist with leaves and claims management in accordance with applicable legislation.\nAdvisory & Safety Culture\nAdvise business leaders and frontline staff on health and safety-related topics, providing sound guidance on OHS and WCB matters.\nWork with Directors of Operations and retail managers to foster a safety-conscious workplace culture with a focus on prevention.\nSupport Operations and senior management with OHS and WCB decision-making, including recommendations, supporting data, and feedback.\nProvide health and safety training and guidance to employees across the organization.\nReporting, Tracking & Records Management\nMonitor key safety performance indicators and report findings to management to support continuous improvement.\nMaintain and update health and safety records, training materials, and forms in an organized and accurate manner.\nManage the shared H&S inbox and provide timely responses and follow-up.\nCreate and maintain training documents, ensuring all materials are branded and up to date with current OHS legislative information.\nDraft and complete both internal and external regulatory forms when applicable.\nOther duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nPost-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nKnowledge of OHS legislation across multiple Canadian provinces, with particular familiarity with Alberta regulations.\nProficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).\nStrong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.\nExcellent time management with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.\nHigh degree of professional discretion and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.\nExperience in a multi-province, retail, facility, or cannabis/liquor environment.\nFamiliarity with incident management systems or HRIS platforms.\nExperience with Workers' Compensation claims management and return-to-work programs.\nWhat Makes SNDL a Great Place to Grow:\nCompetitive compensation including performance-based bonuses and annual salary reviews.\nComprehensive health and dental benefits, including a Healthcare Spending Account.\nThree weeks of paid vacation with annual rollover.\nFlexible, hybrid work arrangements to support work-life balance.\nRecognition and rewards programs that celebrate individual and team achievements.\nEmployee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) with mental health, financial, and family support.\nEmployee perks and discounts program, offering savings across fitness, wellness, lifestyle, retail, and everyday services\nWe are grateful for the interest in this role from all candidates, however, we will be contacting only those that are selected for next steps in the hiring process.\nOur Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion\nSNDL is an equal opportunity employer.
