Software Engineer

We seek a talented Software Engineer to join the Automated Video Production team: a diverse, highly skilled, and enthusiastic team, part of the broader Automated Content Unit.

About the role

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the software solutions that power our Automated Video Production technology. You will build and optimize the core software - including APIs, services, tools, and databases that enable our AI-driven systems to film and live-stream high-level sporting events from all over the world without human intervention. Leveraging your software engineering expertise to propose and implement software solutions, based on requirements that will help the team deliver quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test and maintain libraries, components and backend services for our Automated Video Production systems. E.g., production data analysis and event distribution, optimize video (and audio) encoding and distribution processes, and more

  • Participate in analyzing business requirements and designing new functionalities, breaking down complex and abstract requirements into smaller concrete components that will help the team deliver quickly and efficiently

  • Research new technologies and methodologies to address technical issues

  • Be an innovator and pro-actively contribute to the improvement of the software development process with hands-on familiarity with the latest technology strategy, tools and technologies

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing software solutions

The challenge

  • Design, build, test, deploy and maintain services hosted in a global distributed server architecture on premises and in the cloud, that are part of a larger system

  • Improve the reliability, security and efficiency of our stack

  • Write clean, scalable, documented, and understandable code

  • Participate in code review processes

  • Build reusable code libraries

  • Design, implement, and extend APIs

Your skills

  • Proficiency in Python. Experience with other languages is important

  • Strong experience in managing larger projects from their conception to their maturity

  • Experience with frameworks for web APIs (e.g., Flask), API specifications (OpenAPI, WebRTC)

  • Proficiency working on Linux systems

  • Excellence with version control systems and with CI/CD pipelines for software release lifecycle

  • Good knowledge of containerization technologies and processes

  • Experience with databases (Postgresql knowledge is a plus)

  • Familiarity of Cloud Service Providers (especially AWS)

  • Interest in hardware technologies and practical experimentation

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
