Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming company founded in Stockholm in 2006 that turned licensed on-demand music into the dominant way people listen. Its catalogue spans roughly a hundred million tracks plus podcasts and audiobooks, delivered through an advertising-supported free tier and a paid Premium subscription to hundreds of millions of monthly users across more than a hundred and eighty markets. The platform pairs personalised recommendation systems such as Discover Weekly with a creator side that gives artists, podcasters and publishers distribution, analytics and monetisation tools.

Spotify’s Global Experiential and Content Production team is seeking an Associate Director with well-rounded content and event production experience to join our team.

While this role sits within Global Communications, the impact is company-wide. You will support multiple functions across the business including Communications, Ads, Government Affairs, Product, Music, Creator, Podcast and Audiobooks teams-to bring their initiatives to life through strategic events and content.

Importantly: this team works alongside Spotify’s Brand Experiential Marketing team. That team owns global consumer and brand marketing events. This team owns a defined set of experiential programs tied to communications priorities, creator/industry relationships, policy moments, company events, VIP/Influencer programming, thought leadership platforms, and other business-driven needs - not all events across Spotify.

As an Associate Director, you will play a key role in delivering high-impact creative content and managing live event production. You will build scalable solutions to maximize the success of these projects and support GECP’s Director in the development, management, and execution of our team objectives and project goals. This is a senior creative and production role, guiding both the experiential work and content creation.

The role requires significant travel (domestic and international) up to 70%

What You'll Do

  • Lead the creative development, planning, and production of live experiences including industry and corporate activations, creator and partner events, policy engagements, internal events, and VIP/executive experiences.

  • Shape end-to-end event and experiential production, from concept through execution, ensuring high-quality creative and operational delivery.

  • Manage agency and vendor partnerships, selecting and directing the right collaborators based on scale, complexity, and creative needs.

  • Align internal and external teams on creative direction, ensuring a clear vision across visual storytelling and editorial decisions.

  • Build and manage budgets, timelines, and approval processes across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Partner with cross-functional senior leaders to bring ideas to life and solve complex business needs and challenges.

  • Mentor and support direct reports and producers while leading large-scale, high-visibility productions.

  • Navigate legal and licensing requirements related to visuals, talent, and music usage.

  • Oversee content capture shoots, partnering with internal stakeholders from early development through content delivery, ensuring all is on time and within budget.

  • Bring expertise in technical and stage production, including lighting, audio, and production design, to elevate each experience.

Who You Are

  • You have 10+ years of experience in event, experiential, and live production.

  • You are experienced in leading both small- and large-scale live events and experiences, and delivering high-quality creative outcomes.

  • You know how to translate business goals into engaging, well-crafted, and elevated experiences.

  • You are experienced in selecting and managing external agencies and vendors.

  • You have experience partnering with cross-functional teams globally and can communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders.

  • You have a deep understanding of fabrication, production design, staging, and lighting.

  • You are comfortable managing budgets, contracts, and financial reconciliation.

  • You have experience leading both direct reports on a day-to-day basis and production teams on a project basis.

  • You care about building inclusive, collaborative environments and supporting diverse teams and partners.

  • You are able to balance creative thinking with strong organization and prioritization skills.

  • You have a global mindset and can collaborate effectively across domestic and international regions and time zones.

  • You have a strong understanding of content production workflows, including pre- and post-production processes.

Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in New York City
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in 2-3 times per week.
