Senior Fulfillment Operations Manager, Away Team
Spreetail is seeking a Senior FC Operations Manager to join our Away Team, a small, elite group that supports facility launches, crisis response, and operations excellence across our fulfillment network. This is not a traditional site-based role. You will lead Area Managers and FC Leads embedded across our network, building operational mastery and deploying where we need you most. Partnering with Site Directors, you will run the day-to-day operation of every facility you support, own facility P&L performance during deployments, and build a bench of leaders who can perform in any building. When Spreetail opens a new fulfillment center, you will move into a permanent senior operations leadership role there, bringing the relationships, operating model fluency, and institutional knowledge to help launch the site from day one.

How will you achieve success:
Making Safety Non-Negotiable: Hold the safety standard at every site you support. Quickly assess conditions in new environments, hold Area Managers accountable through leading indicators, drive engineering and ergonomic fixes, and treat near-misses as learning opportunities.
Running the Building: Own facility performance at every site you support across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Run the operation through standard work and your leadership team, not by being in the execution path yourself. In crisis deployments, lead the turnaround alongside the Site Director. In stable periods, raise the bar.
Financial Ownership: Understand facility and network P&L, discuss controllable lines in dollars, and find and close financial bleeds in the FC process. Identify trends, opportunities, and threats before they're escalated to you.
Network Deployment & Crisis Response: Travel a minimum of 25% of the time, and potentially more, to assigned and activated facilities across the Spreetail network. When a site becomes a focus, you and your team go there. When the network is stable, you're building for the future.
Capacity & Labor Planning: Read data forward to anticipate volume swings from domestic and international inbound freight. Plan capacity, space, and hiring for the season, model the cost, and prepare the facility to maintain 100% on-time shipping execution.
Building the Bench: Directly develop Area Managers and FC Leads on the Away Team. Own individual development plans, delegate with follow-up, and build a record of promoting talent from the hourly ranks. Foster a culture of growth that travels with the team.
Cross-Functional Influence: Partner with People & Culture, Transportation, Vendor Management, and HQ teams to align site operations with Spreetail's supply chain strategy, moving peers and partners forward without direct authority over them.
Future FC Placement: Prepare to transition into a permanent senior operations leadership role at a new Spreetail fulfillment center. This placement is a core part of this role's purpose and your career trajectory with Spreetail. Placement timing is determined by Spreetail's network expansion plans.
What experiences will help you in this role:
- Experienced: 5+ years in fulfillment, manufacturing, or distribution (e-commerce preferred).
- Proven Leader: 5+ years of management experience, including leading Area Managers or other salaried leaders across multiple functions or shifts.
- Safety-Driven: A track record of building safety-first cultures. You understand that protecting your team is the foundation of operational excellence, not a separate workstream.
- Talent Builder: Proven ability to develop and promote entry-level talent, with experience managing individual development plans.
- Analytical: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or an analytical Business field, or equivalent experience. Proficient in Excel, forecasting, and scorecard and dashboard performance management; experienced in process mapping and SOP documentation.
- Adaptable: Comfortable leading in new environments and building trust quickly with teams you haven't worked with before. You find structure in ambiguity and bring calm to crisis.
- Relentless: A problem-solver who thrives on optimizing complex systems and never settles for the status quo.
- Mobile: Willing and able to travel a minimum of 25% of the time, with potential for more based on network needs, and open to relocation when placed at a future Spreetail fulfillment center.
