We're building a world where getting support is simple, personal, and built around the person, so care can continue through every job, move, health plan, and life stage.\nOur AI-native platform helps us deliver personalized support across self-guided tools, coaching, therapy, medication management, and specialty care. With outcomes independently validated by JAMA Network Open and the Validation Institute, Spring Health reaches more than 170 million people worldwide through leading employers, health plans, and partners.\nAs an AI-native company, we believe technology should expand the reach, quality, and humanity of care. Every Spring Health team member is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to AI outputs, and keep building AI fluency in ways that support their role and our mission.\nReporting to Senior Engineering Manager, Platform Core Services, you will help build and maintain the shared platform services that our client engineering teams use to deliver solutions for their customers and end users. The Platform Core Services team owns foundational capabilities such as Auth, User Sync, Composer, and other shared services. This is high-leverage work: when we get an abstraction right and manage it in one place, we lower the cost of software delivery, make systems more stable, and keep security consistent for every team that depends on it.\nPlease note that this is a hybrid role based in Seattle, with an expectation to be in the office 2-3 days per week at our 255 S King St location. Candidates must be based in the Seattle metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of their start date. Occasional travel will be required for team on-sites.\nWhat you’ll do\nWrite, review, and deliver production-ready code with a focus on correctness, clarity, and maintainability.\n\nParticipate actively in code reviews-giving constructive feedback and leveraging review comments as a learning opportunity.\n\nUse AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to explore implementation approaches, accelerate development, generate documentation, and augment code reviews-providing sufficient context to get high-quality, system-aware outputs, and always critically reviewing AI-generated code before shipping.\n\nContribute to architectural discussions and tech debt prioritization within your team.\n\nProactively clarify requirements to remove ambiguity; identify and mitigate risks before they become blockers.\n\nDeliver features independently on well-scoped work; support larger multi-person projects with consistent execution.\n\nCollaborate with product managers and designers to break down complex requirements into manageable, shippable units.\n\nAdvocate for high engineering standards including test coverage, documentation, and observability.\n\nParticipate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues.\n\nIdentify and resolve root causes across code domains; add logging, alerting, and monitoring as a standard part of your work.\n\nBuild and evolve shared services (Auth, User Sync, Composer) and the infrastructure and APIs beneath them, so client teams integrate instead of rebuilding.\n\nOwn shared systems that fall between teams: learn, document, and stabilize them, and roll out changes safely through versioning, backward compatibility, and deprecation paths.\n\nPartner with client teams to turn repeated patterns into shared components with clear contracts, and measure adoption to guide what we evolve next.\n\nWhat success looks like in this role\nDelivery & Quality - Deliver projects on time, within scope, and with high stakeholder satisfaction. Maintain high system uptime and low defect rates through strong testing and observability practices.\n\nIndependent Execution - Complete well-scoped tasks independently, resolve issues proactively, and accurately track your own work. Estimates are improving in accuracy sprint over sprint.\n\nAI-Augmented Engineering - Regularly use AI to assist with features, debugging, documentation, and test creation-iterating on prompts to improve output quality, and always validating results against team standards.\n\nCollaboration - Partner effectively with product, design, data, and engineering teammates, contributing meaningfully to team goals and alignment.\n\nEngineering Excellence - Contribute to improved team velocity through planning, estimation, and delivery best practices. Continuously seek out new techniques-including AI capabilities-to improve engineering outcomes.\n\nCode Quality - Write code that is tested, secure, and easy for others to understand and maintain.\n\nWhat you’ll bring\n3-5 years of professional software development experience\n\nProficiency with Ruby on Rails or Python, Postgres, GraphQL, React, and TypeScript, Datadog, RSpec Framework,\n\nExperience building full stack applications\n\nActively uses AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to assist with features, debugging, and test creation-iterates on prompts to improve output quality and critically reviews all AI-generated code for correctness, security, and standards compliance\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment\n\nExperience working in cross-functional Agile teams\n\nStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on clean, maintainable code and attention to detail\n\nEmbraces writing well-designed tests that accompany all code\n\nNote: We have even more benefits than listed here and below, your recruiter will provide more in-depth information as you continue in the interview process.
