For more information, please visit about.springernature.com and @SpringerNature.\nAbout the Role\nThe Data Analyst acts as a trusted analytical partner to Springer Nature's China Marketing team, combining analytics, consultancy, and stakeholder collaboration to drive better business outcomes.\nWorking closely with local marketing stakeholders and global analytics and technology colleagues, the analyst helps shape measurement approaches, frame business questions, identify opportunities, and deliver actionable insights. The role combines hands-on analytical work with consulting and advisory responsibilities, enabling stakeholders to make evidence-based decisions and maximise marketing impact.\nKey Responsibilities\nPartner with local marketing stakeholders to adapt and extend the marketing KPI and metrics framework, ensuring it stays aligned with local and global business goals, draws on market intelligence about the local competitive and digital landscape, and supports local business needs.\nPartner with local marketing stakeholders as well as the wider Marketing Optimisation & Impact team to shape measurement approaches, answer business questions, and improve the quality of decisions through data-driven insight, applying working knowledge of marketing, audience, and publishing data domains.\nManage and analyse large and complex datasets from multiple sources using SQL and Python or R on cloud-based data platforms to identify opportunities, evaluate performance, and generate business insights that can be acted on.\nApply statistical methods, modelling techniques, and strong quantitative skills to support marketing optimisation and impact measurement.\nSupport experimental design and advise on the interpretation of test results and experimentation best practices.\nDevelop dashboards, reports, and other analytics products, using modern analytics tools and technologies, that enable effective, well-informed decision-making.\nCommunicate analytical findings and recommendations through compelling data storytelling that works for both technical and non-technical audiences.\nEnsure data quality, analytical rigour, and reproducibility across all work, while handling data securely and in line with data privacy and governance standards.\nTake ownership of analytical projects from problem definition through to stakeholder adoption.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nStrong SQL skills, including complex querying, data transformation, and data validation.\nProficiency in Python or R for data analysis and statistical modelling.\nStrong understanding of applied statistics, including: \nHypothesis testing and statistical inference\nExperimental design and A/B testing\nRegression techniques and other predictive modelling approaches\nCommon analytical biases and concepts such as regression to the mean\nExperience working with large and complex datasets from multiple sources.\nExperience with cloud-based data platforms such as BigQuery.\nExperience building dashboards and data applications using Looker, Data Studio, Hex, or similar.\nAbility to frame ambiguous business questions and translate them into structured analytical approaches.\nStrong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and intellectual curiosity.\nAbility to communicate statistical concepts and analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.\nGood understanding of the Chinese digital ecosystem, including key marketing platforms, audience behaviours, and emerging trends.\nStrong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin.\nPreferred\nFamiliarity with dbt and modern analytics engineering practices. \nUnderstanding of the Chinese academic and research landscape, including research institutions, research output, scholarly publishing, and emerging trends affecting researchers and authors. \nQualifications\nWe welcome candidates from a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds.
