It is the responsibility of this position to verify that patient demographics and insurances are current and CPT and diagnosis codes are verified at the time of coordinating the exam.\nJob Relationships\nReports to the Diagnostic Imaging Operations Manager\nPrincipal Responsibilities\nCoordinate Radiology procedures using Radiology Information System (RIS) through incoming calls from patients, providers’ offices, or task list.\nAnswer, screen, and route calls in a courteous and respectful manner following departmental guidelines, assisting patients and/or providers accordingly.\nVerify that an exam scheduled has an appropriate diagnosis code and CPT code.\nVerify that prior authorization has been obtained for exams requiring prior authorization.\nCommunicate pending pre-certification information issues with technologists and Radiology management.\nWork with Springfield Clinic team members as well as outside providers to obtain correct order and insurance authorization documentation.\nReview the necessary patient screening information to safely scan patients while ensuring billing procedures are followed.\nVerify insurance eligibility and update as needed.\nBuild worker’s compensation cases in APM (Allscripts Practice Management).\nBuild referrals for MOHA and outside providers in APM to attach to imaging appointments with authorization information.\nCollaborate with technologists, on-site radiologists, and/or management to maximize scheduling efforts.\nWork wait lists in RIS.\nModify imaging schedules in order to accommodate add on patients.\nScreen patients in regards to contrast, pacemaker/defibrillator, hardware, and implantable devices to ensure patients’ exams can be safely performed at Springfield Clinic.\nDetermine if patient will need accommodations to ensure compliance with ADA standards and/or interpreter services and schedule accordingly.\nResponsible for providing exam expectations and necessary required preparation to the patient.\nUse effective oral and written communication with a variety of health care professionals, patients, and their advocates.\nComply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.\nAdhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.\nProvide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.\nPerform other job duties as assigned.\nSecondary Responsibilities\nCheck in patients for Radiology procedures, verify patient demographics and update information as needed, as well as register new patients.\nEnsure that precertification and insurance information is correct and update as needed.\nScan consents and signed documents into patient’s chart.\nSchedule x-rays on a walk-in/outpatient basis.\nScan outside reports into PACS system.\nEnsure all outside images and reports are obtained.\nBurn discs for patients and Correspondence and work with the Release of Information team to verify accurate documentation.\nAssist with the preparation of sending out letters of communication.\nCollect payments and coordinate patient billing with Radiology Financial Counselor or patient Customer Service Representative.\nEducation/Experience\nHigh School graduate or GED required. \nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nAbility to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.\nExcellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.\nExcellent computer and telephone skills.\nSelf-motivated and able to problem solve.\nClear, articulate speaking voice.\nThe employee must be able to lift, walk, stoop and sit at a computer for long periods.\nMust possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle
