This role is responsible for ensuring that data is securely erased from storage devices in accordance with company security policies and industry standards.\nThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with computers, familiarity with data wiping tools, and a strong commitment to data security, accuracy, and inventory management.\nKey Responsibilities\nData Sanitization & Security\nPerform secure data wiping and sanitization of hard drives and storage devices using industry-standard tools such as DBAN, Blancco, DiskPart, or equivalent software.\n\nEnsure all data erasure activities comply with company security policies, established procedures, and applicable data protection regulations.\n\nVerify and document successful data sanitization, maintaining accurate records for compliance and auditing purposes.\n\nIdentify storage devices that cannot be securely wiped and escalate them for appropriate handling or physical destruction.\n\nIT Support & Hardware Maintenance\nTroubleshoot and resolve basic computer hardware and storage-related issues.\n\nPerform routine system maintenance, including disk cleanup, storage optimization, and basic performance improvements.\n\nAssist with hard drive installation, replacement, formatting, and configuration.\n\nSupport disk cloning, imaging, and other storage-related technical activities as needed.\n\nDiagnose basic issues involving HDDs, SSDs, NVMe drives, and related computer components.\n\nInventory Management & E-Waste Disposal\nMaintain accurate inventory records of storage devices, including serial numbers, asset tags, processing status, and disposal information.\n\nTrack and document all devices undergoing data sanitization, repurposing, recycling, or disposal.\n\nCoordinate the proper disposal of electronic waste (e-waste) in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.\n\nEnsure storage devices are properly labeled, organized, and accounted for throughout their lifecycle.\n\nMaintain accurate documentation and reports related to asset management and data destruction activities.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\n\nPrevious hands-on experience working with computers, IT support, computer repair, hardware maintenance, or a related technical field.\n\nBasic understanding of computer hardware, storage devices, and file systems.\n\nFamiliarity with data sanitization tools, secure data wiping procedures, and data security best practices.\n\nAbility to perform basic computer troubleshooting, disk cleanup, and system performance optimization.\n\nExperience maintaining inventory records, tracking equipment serial numbers, and documenting technical processes.\n\nAbility to follow established security procedures and handle sensitive information responsibly.\n\nStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate documentation.\n\nAbility to work independently and efficiently while managing repetitive technical tasks.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nAssociate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.\n\nExperience using data wiping and sanitization software such as Blancco, DBAN, DiskPart, or similar tools.\n\nFamiliarity with disk cloning, imaging, and drive diagnostic software.\n\nExperience with IT asset management, hardware recycling, or e-waste disposal procedures.\n\nKnowledge of data sanitization standards, including NIST SP 800-88.\n\nPrevious experience in an IT service center, hardware refurbishment facility, or technical support environment.\n\nKey Competencies\nTechnical troubleshooting and problem-solving\n\nData security and compliance awareness\n\nHardware maintenance and storage management\n\nInventory tracking and documentation\n\nAccuracy and attention to detail\n\nTime management and organizational skills\n\nCompensation: \nThe expected compensation is an estimate, and the final offer will depend on skills, experience, location, and other job-related factors.\nVacancy Status:\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\nPay Range\n$18—$19 USD\nWHAT WE OFFER\nCareer Growth: An opportunity to enter a job that allows you to learn new skills or use a variety of them that may lead you to uncover other career opportunities.\nLearning & Development: At SPS, we promote a work culture of learning so that you can develop to be the best at what you do.\nWe Recognize Talent: We offer a variety of recognition programs for all levels of employees.\nPaid Time Off: Full time: Minimum of 80 hours/calendar year.
