As a Supplier Quality Auditor, you will serve as the technical quality expert within the Strategic Sourcing Center of Excellence, partnering closely with Sourcing, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure robust quality systems and manufacturing processes throughout the supply base. This role requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional who can evaluate supplier capabilities, investigate complex quality issues, validate manufacturing processes, and drive sustainable corrective actions.\nA significant portion of this role is focused on technical documentation, root cause investigation, risk assessment, and supplier problem-solving. The ideal candidate possesses a strong engineering background and extensive manufacturing experience, particularly in welding and fabricated assemblies. This individual must be capable of evaluating engineering specifications, weld procedures, quality records, process controls, inspection methodologies, and supplier quality systems to identify risks and implement improvements.\nSuccess in this position requires the ability to independently assess supplier performance, interpret technical requirements, document findings in a clear and actionable manner, and lead suppliers through complex corrective action processes that improve quality, reduce risk, and strengthen overall supply chain performance.\nJob Responsibilities\nTechnical Quality & Problem Solving\nLead root cause investigations utilizing structured methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and PFMEA.\nAnalyze manufacturing process failures, supplier escapes, field quality concerns, and recurring defects to identify systemic issues.\nReview engineering drawings, specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements, weld symbols, inspection plans, and manufacturing documentation for compliance and manufacturability.\nEvaluate supplier process controls, inspection methods, quality records, and validation activities to ensure compliance with technical requirements.\nDrive containment, corrective action, and preventive action activities through closure while verifying effectiveness through objective evidence.\nAssess process capability, control plans, process audits, and risk mitigation strategies for critical suppliers.\nSupport supplier development initiatives to improve process stability, quality performance, and technical competency.\nDocumentation & Reporting\nDevelop comprehensive audit reports that clearly document observations, non-conformances, risks, technical concerns, and recommended actions.\nReview and evaluate supplier quality documentation including: Quality manuals\nStandard operating procedures\nControl plans\nProcess flow diagrams\nPFMEAs\nInspection records\nWeld procedures and certifications (where applicable)\nValidation and test reports\n\nMaintain detailed records of audit findings, corrective action progress, supplier performance trends, and risk assessments.\nCreate executive-level summaries and technical reports used to support sourcing decisions and supplier qualification activities.\nAnalyze supplier quality data and identify trends requiring corrective or preventive action.\nWelding & Manufacturing Process Evaluation\nEvaluate welding operations, welding procedures, operator qualifications, inspection practices, and process controls.\nAssess supplier compliance with applicable welding standards and customer-specific requirements.\nVerify implementation and effectiveness of weld quality controls, inspection methods, and documentation practices.\nAssess fabrication, machining, assembly, and manufacturing processes to identify technical risks and opportunities for improvement.\nCollaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical manufacturing and quality issues.\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education\nRequired Experience\n5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical discipline. \nDemonstrated experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing sustainable corrective actions within manufacturing environments. \nStrong experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation. \nExtensive experience with quality system audits, process audits, and supplier development activities. \nHands-on experience with fabricated metal products, welding processes, machining, assembly, or industrial manufacturing. \nProven ability to develop comprehensive technical reports and documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nCertified Welding Inspector (CWI) strongly preferred. \nCertified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Supplier Quality Auditor (CSQA). \nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Welding Engineering, or related technical field. \nExperience with: AWS welding standards\nASME codes\nMetallurgy and welding processes\nFabrication and metalworking operations\nPFMEA development\nAPQP and PPAP\nSupplier quality management\nLean Manufacturing and Six Sigma\n\nTravel & Working Environment\nThrives in a fast-paced environment while effectively balancing multiple high-priority initiatives and competing deadlines. \nDemonstrates exceptional attention to detail, strong technical acumen, and a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. \nMust be comfortable working directly within manufacturing environments, assessing supplier processes, investigating quality concerns, and documenting findings and corrective actions. \nSignificant travel is required to conduct supplier audits, technical assessments, and on-site problem-solving activities, with travel expectations of up
