The Role

With several treatment plant projects entering the delivery phase across regional Southeast Queensland, SRG Global is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater treatment facilities to support projects in the Sunshine Coast region.

As Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of these projects, working closely with the Project Manager and broader project team to drive performance across project delivery, commercial and financial outcomes, contract administration, stakeholder engagement, resource planning, risk management, safety and quality.

A key requirement for this role is experience delivering projects within water treatment and sewage treatment plant environments. We are looking for an experienced engineer who understands the complexities of working within operational treatment facilities and can apply that expertise to infrastructure upgrades, remediation and asset protection projects that will strengthen the region's drinking water network and support future growth.

Key responsabilities:

  • Support the Project Manager in the planning, execution and closeout of projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead the engineering and delivery of assigned works associated with water treatment plants and treatment infrastructure.
  • Manage assigned project packages, including scope, program, budget, procurement, subcontractors, quality and technical requirements.
  • Support project procurement, including tender analysis, subcontractor selection, supplier engagement and performance management.
  • Administer relevant contracts, identify variations and ensure appropriate contractual documentation is maintained.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, productivity and performance to support strong commercial outcomes.
  • Support project planning, risk management, construction methodologies, programming and project execution.
  • Coordinate technical and engineering requirements, including drawings, design interfaces, RFIs and constructability issues.
  • Coordinate plant, materials, workforce and subcontractor requirements to support project delivery.
  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, crews and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare project reporting and participate in client and project meetings, providing clear updates on progress, risks and commercial matters.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Project Engineers and Site Engineers where required.
  • Ensure works comply with safety, quality, environmental, technical and legislative requirements and support project handover and closeout.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • 5+ years' experience in Project Engineer and/or Senior Project Engineer roles within civil construction, utilities, industrial or infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering water and/or sewage treatment plant projects or works within operational treatment facilities.
  • A relevant qualification in Engineering, Civil Construction or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in project planning, construction delivery and management of project work packages.
  • Experience in procurement, subcontractor management and supplier engagement.
  • Commercial experience including cost control, forecasting, budgeting, variations and contract administration.
  • Experience developing and reviewing construction methodologies, project programs and risk assessments.
  • A sound understanding of construction principles within a multidisciplinary contracting environment.
  • Strong technical capability with the ability to identify and resolve engineering and construction issues.
  • Strong client, stakeholder and subcontractor management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.
