The successful candidate will be a collaborative and energetic team member who thrives on the opportunity to develop scientific modeling infrastructure to support the growth of SRNL. You will work on a team supporting institutional and programmatic customers at locations across the laboratory, performing a wide variety of system administration activities for servers and workstations, including but not limited to the below responsibilities.\n Participates in the design, build, and maintenance of our Linux and High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems and infrastructure\nConfigure, deploy, and manage Linux/UNIX systems including server and desktop management in a heterogeneous environment\nConfigure, deploy, and manage virtual desktops and servers\nProvide advanced knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client/server principles\nScripting and automating tasks\nDeploy and manage Linux systems to include imaging and central management\nWork with authentication services such as LDAP\nDeploy, configure, and maintain configuration management tools, such as Ansible\nManage projects with some oversight from inception through implementation, including project management, documentation, and training of users, system administrators, or others who may maintain or use the end products\nProvide technical expertise and architectural direction to solving complex software and hardware issues in a heterogeneous computing environment\nConfigure and manage storage and backup solutions\nResearch, document, and communicate current and future technologies\nInteract with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner\nWork effectively in a team environment to resolve issues, prioritize tasks, assist, and share with fellow team members, and participate in continuous process improvement efforts\n Minimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred\n0-3+ years’ Linux experience, ideally with large-scale file system administration and support\nFor ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required\nPreferred Qualifications:\n1+ years of Linux experience, ideally with large-scale file system administration and support\nAdvanced vendor certification (RHCSA, RHCE, VMware, Storage)\nFamiliarity with resource scheduling managers (Slurm, Moab, LSF, etc.)\nExperience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible preferred)\nExperience with OS customization and security hardening using DISA STIG, CIS, etc.\nProven track record with scripting in Python, bash, Perl, etc.\nExperience with containers (Docker, etc.)\nExtensive understanding of operating systems, computer networks, and scientific modeling applications\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment\nExcellent interpersonal, customer relations, and problem management skills\nExperience with project and process planning\nAbility to clearly document processes and procedures with a focus toward mentoring and knowledge
