Such programs will include hearing conservation, respiratory protection, heat stress, crane safety, confined spaces, etc. \nMaintain effective standardized tools to monitor the success of the safety management systems and identify opportunities for improvement.\nTrack completion and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions identified through audits or investigations.\nPlan and coordinate safety training as directed.\nEvaluate, specify, and audit the proper application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).\nMaintain appropriate records in accordance with the SSAB Safety and Security Policy, related regulations, and statutes.\nAssist with overseeing the contracted security service as directed by the Safety Manager.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nCompetencies and Experience.\nRequired:\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint\nMinimum two years of experience in safety compliance/industry experience.\nOSHA 10 certification or equivalent work experience to ensure working knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and apply complex local, state, and federal safety and occupational health regulations such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ASME, and NRC.\nExperience with industrial hygiene - lead programs, fit testing, and noise monitoring\nPreferred:\nExperience in industrial manufacturing processes and working environments.\n\nFamiliarity conducting investigations, audits, and inspections.\n\nFamiliarity with Safety Management systems\n\nPrevious experience with a comprehensive safety program\n\nEducation\nRequired:\nAssociate’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Human Sciences, or Business Management\nPreferred:\nBachelors degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field\n\nFormal education in Safety Management Program\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / DIRECT REPORTS\nThis position does not have any direct reports.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nEmployee will be required to sit and stand for several hours at any given time, depending on the demands at the time.\n\nEmployee may be required to push, pull, lift and/or carry items of up to 50 pounds to fulfill functions of the job.\n\nEmployee must be able to balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl.\n\nEmployee must be able to twist at the waist, reach and perform overhead and waist-level tasks.\n\nThe position requires the employee to grip, handle, hold, and grasp with hands.
