Our international business is progressing a secured development pipeline of around 3.3GW, spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar PV and battery storage, with our first operational onshore wind farms already delivered in Spain, France and Italy.\nYour main focus will be onshore wind, with opportunities to apply your expertise more widely across solar and battery projects. You’ll have real scope to challenge designs, improve constructability and help us make good engineering and commercial decisions as our Southern European portfolio grows.\nYou will\nCoordinate civil engineering delivery across utility-scale renewable projects, taking responsibility for balance-of-plant infrastructure from development through construction and operational handover.\nReview and challenge engineering studies, specifications, layouts and detailed designs, looking for solutions that are safe, compliant, constructible, cost-effective and built for long-term performance.\nProvide civil engineering expertise through site selection, design development, technical due diligence, tendering and contractor selection.\nManage external engineering consultants and Owner’s Engineers, setting clear expectations and building strong relationships to deliver quality engineering outcomes.\nIdentify and manage engineering, programme and cost risks while championing safety by design, value engineering and continuous improvement.\nYou have\nA degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience, together with a background in utility-scale renewable energy or major infrastructure projects.\nKnowledge of wind farm balance-of-plant infrastructure, substations and renewable energy project delivery.\nExperience reviewing and challenging engineering studies, technical reports, drawings, calculations and contractor deliverables.\nA practical and commercially aware approach, with the confidence to question established thinking, manage engineering risk and work across multidisciplinary teams.\nStrong communication skills with fluency in Spanish and English, together with a willingness to travel regularly to project sites across Europe.\nAbout SSE\nSSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.\nWe do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition.
