{"id":2210509,"url":"https://alion.io/job/sse-electrical-maintenance-technician","title":"Electrical Maintenance Technician","company":{"id":1808654,"name":"SSE","domain":"sse.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/sse-com","size_band":"5000+","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Schema","truth_index":null},"role":"Field & Service","role_family":"Field & Service","seniority":null,"employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Ireland"],"countries":["IE"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":41600,"max":62400,"currency":"EUR","period":"year","gross":null,"usd_annual":69875},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-09T07:02:21Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-09","last_verified_at":"2026-10-13T00:11:38Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":3,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":3},"description":"Base Location: Tarbert Power Station, County Kerry\nSalary: €41,600 -€62,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.\nWorking Pattern: Permanent | Full Time |\nThe role\nAs an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you’ll help keep Tarbert Power Station’s electrical plant and equipment safe, reliable and operating effectively.\nYou’ll be a key member of the engineering team, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, supporting improvement projects and helping deliver maintenance and outage work across the site.\nYou will\nCarry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical plant and equipment, working with maintenance and planning colleagues to address faults and improve reliability.\nSupport electrical and instrumentation projects from initial scope and technical specification through to procurement, installation and commissioning.\nPlan, coordinate and oversee contractors, ensuring work is delivered safely and meets the required technical and commercial standards.\nControl isolations, permits and safe access to equipment, taking responsibility for safe systems of work when appointed as an Authorised Person.\nMaintain accurate technical records, drawings and job plans, using maintenance information to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. \nYou have\nA National Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering at NFQ Level 6, or an equivalent electrical qualification.\nPractical experience maintaining electrical equipment within an operational industrial, generation or similarly safety-critical environment.\nExperience controlling electrical isolations, issuing or managing permits and ensuring safe access to plant and equipment.\nA strong commitment to safety, with the confidence to assess risk, challenge unsafe practice and make sound technical decisions.\nClear communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and technical specialists.\nExperience of high-voltage installations, switching operations, control systems, field instrumentation, motor control centres, variable speed drives, battery systems or equipment in hazardous environments would be beneficial, but you do not need to have experience in every area to apply\nAbout SSE\nSSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.\nWe do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition.
