In this varied, field-based role, you’ll maintain and inspect critical plant, support repairs and construction work, and receive training and development to gain authorisation up to 400kV.\nYou will\nCarry out maintenance on electricity switchgear and plant up to and including 400kV, with training and development provided to help you gain full authorisation.\nMaintain power systems, including switchgear, transformers, busbars and associated equipment, in a field-based environment.\nComplete inspections, planned maintenance and defect repairs, and assist with construction works while ensuring best value for money.\nPut safety first and ensure all operational work is completed to the highest standards.\nParticipate in standby duties for fault work once the required authorisations have been gained, helping ensure the network complies with current and future regulatory requirements.\nYou have\nDemonstrable experience of working on an electrical network, ideally involving Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) plant maintenance.\nA strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow guidance, build positive customer relationships and deliver a high level of service.\nEnthusiasm, drive and a flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing business and project priorities.\nPreferably, experience of working in HV within a transmission or similar organisation, together with a City & Guilds Part 232, SVQ Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeship or SVQ Level 3 Mechanical Apprenticeship.\nA full driving licence and the flexibility to work away from your base location occasionally.\nAbout SSE\nSSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.\nWe do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition.
