You will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers and work closely with operations, maintenance and planning teams to ensure the safe, efficient and sustainable management of our assets.\nThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing critical renewable energy infrastructure while helping to deliver SSE's ambitions for a net-zero future.\nThis role would suit someone from a civil or mechanical engineering background.\nSome of your other main accountabilities will include;\nShape annual work programmes, budgets and resource plans, ensuring priorities support our business objectives.\nTake ownership of project and programme finances, maintaining tight cost control and accurate forecasts.\nSupport outage planning and coordinate engineering input to maximise asset availability and performance.\nBuild trusted relationships with operational teams, contractors and external stakeholders to drive successful delivery.\nCoach and mentor engineers, building team capability and supporting future succession.\nTo be successful in this role, we would love you to have;\nChartered Engineer status or demonstrable progress towards professional registration.\nExperience delivering engineering projects in an operational environment.\nKnowledge of hydro generation assets, dams, waterways, flood gates, valves or similar infrastructure would be highly advantageous.\nExcellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.\nDemonstrable experience leading and developing engineering teams.\nAbout SSE\nSSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.\nWe do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition.
