Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest and respectful.\n Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nSkills in effective operation of necessary equipment.\nKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety requirements associated with equipment operation.\nAbility to work at elevated heights up to 70'.\nAbility to ride and operate tractors and mowers for extended periods.\nAbility to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.\nAbility to follow oral and/or written instructions. \nAbility to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimum supervision.\nMust attend a work release supervisor training class annually\nValid Class A Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) is required or must have ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.\nMaterial and Equipment Directly Used\nOperates a variety of equipment used in routine maintenance, including mowers, trucks, tractors, chainsaws, forklift, bobcat, boom truck, packer truck and other equipment used in the maintenance of parks. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.\nWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements\nMajority of work is performed in an outdoor setting where weather conditions can vary from extreme heat and cold, with high levels of dust, dirt, fumes, and noise. Physical activity includes prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking and uses arms and hands frequently. Must have the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds and assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.\n Education\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
