No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nOperate roll-off trucks, flusher truck, and dump truck safely throughout the landfill and transfer station property.\nOperate a skid steer and or wheel loader when needed.\nOperate a 60,000lb excavator loading material into a container to be hauled to scrap yard.\nOperates tractors with mower attachments\nMaintain safe distances from pedestrians, heavy equipment, and other vehicles.\nPerform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned truck and equipment.\nCheck tires, brakes, lights, hydraulic systems, hoist equipment, container connections, and other safety-related components.\nReport equipment defects, damaged containers, spills, unsafe conditions, or other operational concerns immediately.\nEnsure waste and materials remain contained during transportation and do not create litter or roadway hazards.\nAssist with litter, debris, dust, and general housekeeping around the transfer station and landfill operating areas.\nOther Duties and Responsibilities\nCoordinate with dozer, compactor, loader, and other heavy-equipment operators during loading and unloading operations.\nFollow all posted site speed limits, traffic patterns, designated haul routes, and landfill safety procedures.\nFollow all applicable landfill permit conditions, environmental requirements, company policies, and safety procedures.\nKeep assigned truck and equipment clean and in good operating condition.\nAssist with maintaining traffic flow and keeping designated work areas clear and accessible.\nOccasionally perform as a laborer when required.\nPerforms all other related duties as assigned.\nEmployee Behavior and Conduct\nCity employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct appropriate for the circumstances to those with whom they come into contact both internally and externally during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest, and respectful.\n Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nSkills in the safe operation of equipment used in the maintenance of the Landfill. \nKnowledge of landfill operations, rules and regulations. \nAbility to read surveyor’s marks and build area or projects accordingly. \nGood hand/eye and hand/foot coordination. \nAbility to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimum supervision. \nA Valid State of Missouri Class A CDL with Tanker and Trailer endorsements preferred (will assist the successful candidate with obtaining a CDL).\nOne year of experience in related field is preferred.\nMaterials and Equipment Directly Used\nOperates a variety of equipment including roll-off truck, flusher truck, loaders, dump truck, excavator, tractors with attachments. Trains in the operation of heavy equipment, such as, dozer, compactor, used in the operation of the landfill. Uses a range of hand tools in performance of maintenance duties. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.\nWorking Environment/Physical Requirements\nExposure to extreme weather conditions. Must be able to sit for long periods of time while operating equipment over rough and uneven terrain. Must be able to operate equipment with dexterity. Occasional lifting of 50 pounds and in excess of 50 pounds with assistance, as well as bending, stooping, climbing, reaching and walking over rough terrain. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes.
