{"id":1927254,"url":"https://alion.io/job/st-olaf-college-door-technician","title":"Door Technician","company":{"id":1772315,"name":"St. Olaf College","domain":"stolaf.edu","url":"https://alion.io/company/stolaf-edu","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Oracle","truth_index":null},"role":"Field & Service","role_family":"Field & Service","seniority":"senior","employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Northfield, United States"],"countries":["US"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":31,"max":35,"currency":"USD","period":"hour","gross":null,"usd_annual":70000},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":5,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-05T18:07:43Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-05","last_verified_at":"2026-11-03T12:52:44Z","board_verified":false,"closed_at":null,"days_open":31,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":31},"description":"Position Title: Door Technician\nDepartment: Facilities\nClassification: Non-Exempt\nFTE: 1.0\nWork Schedule: The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm; flexible work arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors; occasional evening or weekend work as need required; serve on an on-call rotation basis for after-hour and weekend emergencies; travel up to 10% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area)\nWork Location: On Campus\nHourly Rate: $31 - $35\nEssential Job Duties:\nOperations and Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical locksets to make repairs, adjustments, replacements, or upgrades as needed. \nCommunicate and coordinate with the college electrical trades staff and/or Information Technology department when troubleshooting, repairing, replacing or installing electro-mechanical door hardware such as electronic locksets, electric latch retraction devices, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) operators, power supplies and other related items. \nMaintain and troubleshoot ADA door operators and related accessories, door closers, mechanical and electro-mechanical door hold open units, doors, frames, pivots, and all other related mechanical and electro-mechanical door hardware products to make repairs, adjustments, replacements, or upgrades as needed. \nShim hinges and make adjustments as needed on existing and new doors/frames to achieve correct door fitment and swing of doors in frames. \nAssist Locksmith with pinning of cylinders, installing cores, and changing student rooms cores for lost keys as directed or needed. \nMaintain campus owned tools, equipment, service vehicle, and workspace areas in a manner that promotes a clean, organized, efficient and safe work environment. \nRespond to two-way radio calls, telephone calls, emails, and computerized work orders to make repairs and/or replacements as needed to door, frame, and all door related hardware items. \nMaintain appropriate stock inventory levels of door and frame related hardware products to allow for immediate replacements of broken items on campus. \nSkills in using standard office equipment and computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and database, or willingness to learn. \nProvide support for event set-ups as needed. \n\nAssist in maintaining a database of all keys issued and all locks, keying, and access credentials for card reading devices. \nTrain others, including student workers and staff in the operation of the keys, locks, and databases.\nSupport, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nSupervision Received and Exercised:\nReports to the Assistant Director of Facilities.\nThis position does not supervise staff or students.\nRequired Qualifications:\nEducation: High school diploma or equivalent; maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record.\nExperience: 2+ years of door hardware, locksmith, mechanical maintenance, or carpentry experience.\nPreferred Qualifications:\n Education: Minnesota Power Limited Technician (PLT) license preferred.\nExperience: 5+ years of experience in commercial lock and door hardware industry. Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial door hardware, electronic access-control components, electric locking hardware, and power-operated/low-energy door systems, within applicable licensing, manufacturer, and code requirements.\nPrerequisites:\nEmployment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
